At stand up ceremony for 1X(B) Squadron Typhoon ZJ924 now displays on tail in red lettering WS-J. I think this may be back to WW2 and to Lancaster W4964 serving with the Squadron and famously marked with Johnnie Walker image and logo "Still going strong". That Lancaster carried many mission marks.
Edit - Original Lanc W4964 was rested from war duties after October 1944 and eventually struck off charge(SOC) November 1949. Source Ton-Up Lancs book by Norman Franks
Addendum - WS-R was a Lanc Mk111 serial EE136 named "Spirit of Russia" completing over 100 ops.

ZJ917 is WS-R, also a nod to a IX(B) Sqn centurion Lanc.

Re: New Code on Typhoon Thurs 2/5
I did wonder if WS-J and WS-R were going to be the aggressors with "distinctive markings" mentioned in the RAF news release for IX(B) standing up...
