I take it you are referring to the flypast and not to my log yesterday.
The flypast was just as it stated a flypast of Tornado aircraft (with a bonus fourth aircraft). Do you expect the aircraft to be doing overshoots, circuits, touch and goes or GCA approaches ? Do not expect also to be in the right place in order to get that "perfect photo".
This was simply a big thank you from RAF Marham to RAF Lossiemouth which was home fo many years to Tornado serving both on operational and a training squadron. Some of the aircrew here paying the ultimate sacrifice.
For many of us we remember its arrival and now we may have seen its final flight in these local skies.

Farewell Tornado

Well said, Al.

I'm getting a little fed up of all the complaining and negativity towards the flypasts.

They are difficult to organise, and take a great deal of planning.

A simple 'Thank You' is all that is required...

Well said Al. I always enjoy reading your logs and it also gives me an idea of what activities are going on which is very useful for me as I have a fair distance to travel to Lossie. Keep up the good work, please.

So what was 'rubbish' about it? What exactly was it that you wanted/expected but didn't get to justify your very concise description? :S

Got to agree with vulcanxl425s comments re Tornado farewell : at the XV ( R ) sqdn farewell & disbandment days we were honoured with the "spirited " airfield attacks - unforgettable - , & this time we got several flypasts at circuit height , beautiful formation flying , some of the best Tornado colour schemes ( the "Tonka" looking fit for another 20 years ) , 9 sqdn old & new in close formation , and the best weather ever seen at Lossie - whats not to like about all that ? . Very well done , RAF ! :thumb: :pop:

I believe the Marshall of the RAF was flying as part of the formation, perhaps that partially explains the nature of the flypast. Never the less they managed to get the 3 special markings operational at this point in their flying careers. Congratulations to all involved.

Well said Al.
At least folk got to see Tornados and great weather.
Some of us were stuck on a wet and windy Skye.
Keep up the good work.

Well I'm very happy with my shots of the FINale 3 ship. The bonus 9sqn 3 ship was a bit distant but I have a pic for the record and got cracking shots of the 9sqn Typhoons when the landed back later. I caught up with a lot of old friends for a blether in the beautiful warm weather. Overall I'm very happy with my day out from Aberdeen.
The golf course end was mobbed, don't think I've ever seen so many people there before, even for the 15sqn farewell fly past.
