Thanks for the fence photo DD. For those wanting an idea of its height and what it means for photography, you can just see a chap at the far end, looking over the new fencing - as has been said, stepladder probably not needed.

If the new fencing has been installed at the 05 end, I would think the increased height, albeit modest, would make the use of a stepladder almost obligatory if the fence-top is to be excluded from shots taken from the gathering-place off the main road, at least of aircraft using the perimeter track on the east side. Not sure about how it will affect photos taken from next to the fencing at 05 as I've never trekked around to that area.

Visitors to Lossie would be best take a small set of steps especially for 05 end which I have found to be slightly higher than 23 other end.The cross runway 10 likewise steps possibly now required (28 other end always difficult access).Work is continuing installing much higher (green) fencing around whole of airfield apart from crash gates and this will make it nearly impossible for viewing and photography

Sad news indeed - and to think that, one Sunday afternoon in the early 1950s, my dad and his best chum crawled under what was then a three-strand barbed-wire fence at the 23 end for a closer inspection of some Sea Mosquitos living out their final days before being carted off for scrapping!
