Maritime Patrol Aircraft

Post by cfett75 » Sat Nov 21, 2015 11:58 am

ScotAv Net is reporting that a second Atlantic (No. 4) has arrived today, along with a Canadian CP-140 (140114) late last night.

Has anyone got conformation on this.

Thanks

Sounded like an MPA climbing out at 1220 hrs.
Sorry Chris but I'm stuck at home and cannot confirm info.
Oh and I'll play safe and do this ??

It was a French MPA Paul and it was an Atlantique - I did see it but can't confirm the serial though. Also the CP-140 arrived last night but I only heard it on the scanner landing at Lossie and Taxying to Delta so again I can't confirm anything serial wise (unless you trust my SBS).

I hope this next to useless information is of use to someone :D

Al

PS - they are both grey ;)

If the Aurora as Chris thinks was 140114 then I assume it was correct.
Out of the 21 RCAF Auroras that seems to be only one that ever visits Lossie these days :@

Thanks Al
Photos rechecked still 14, 4 (had departed before 1300 as Paul says) and 140114.
Cheers

Did someone spot a periscope in the Clyde, as this happened about this time last year.

Or maybe the Government has contracted out our de-lousing needs.

I am delighted to confirm Chris' confirmation that the CP-140 is indeed 140114 and the two Atlantiques are 4 and 14 respectively. Spotted by Mk 1 eyeball and captured by Mk 2 7D :D Sadly no periscopes have been spotted on the runway.

I can narrow the chances down even further by saying
there's only a chance of 18 different Auroras turning up with ;-

140119 now in use as a ground instructional airframe at Greenwood, NS
140120 at AMARG
140121 at AMARG

as for French Navy Atlantique # 4 that's the second time I've missed it
in a week and a day :( :(

see you tomorrow ?

to rub salt in even more Chris has advised on Scotavnet
that Canadian C-130J 130615 has also arrived , but Atlantique
# 4 is still around

I did see that Mark but can't confirm Chris' confirmation of the C-130 as I'm tucked up in the house in my comfy slippers supping coffee - I only stuck my lens out the back door to get the pic as they are using 05 :)

Well they won't be hiding in the bushes that's for sure, the local 'gardner' has taken care of most of them!

Thanks Mark for reducing the Aurora odds at Lossie
Seems to be a busy place this weekend.
Will probably appear Tuesday once all my thermal clothing put on

Looks like a Russian sub is lurking out there, love the use of the pic where Putin is doing his best impression of a bond villain!

Mark -

I took the time out the goodness of my heart to go and confirm the colour of the C-130 for you. The Canadian C-130 was in fact light grey, the RAF C-130 was in fact dark green and the Atlantique's were unchanged since the last colour update!

Regards
