To those who remain anonymous for the moment at least, if you doubt Al's sincerity and commitment to keeping the hobbyists on the right side of the local landowners and farmers, you only needed to see him on Monday evening walking around the parking areas and field margins on the north side of 05 picking up all the dropped rubbish. Yes, not only were they tramping about on the planted crop but discarded their plastic bottles, crisp packets, sandwich wrappers etc. Absolute disgrace.

Well done Al, take a bow and a well earned rest.

Mike

PS if you ooohhhh and aaaahhhh any more about your new 100-400, I'll be swapping systems! Then I'll be moaning about losing the 70-100 bit and the zoom twisting the wrong way. Just can't win can I?

Once upon a time when I did a press flight out of a certain airfield up north a Chinook crewman said Ah no you can't have a session on the mini gun on the door.....

Seems that would be useful at Coningsby too

It's also worth noting that in the case of access down the 05 end the following. The MoD own the fields/land surrounding the O5 Threshold and Approach and extending up to the old SAR area, they then rent it back to the farmer at a nominal or no fee. It would be very easy for the the MoD and farmer to come to some agreement with fencing off the entire area to ensure that this sort of thing doesn't happen again, and with the case of some spotters jumping the perimeter fence it may just lead to this.

Haven't been to Lossie in years, but remember the beach end.

The problem with updating the maps is that this type of person will no even look at the maps online; they will just go where they want to get whatever photo they want, sod everyone else. Probably not go back to Lossie until the next JW.

Makes you wonder if they do the smae at anyother airfields; were they the same people causing the problems at Coningsby. Publish photos of vehicles, name and shame :ninja:

I'm lead to believe that several of the offenders are known enthusiasts and are known within this forum as well as other sites.

Post pictures and shame, no need to name as maybe seeing themselves in the act will change their mind for the future.

A quick Google came up with this photo of 2 of the Out of Bounds Lossie spotters - http://www.moron2moron.com/wp-content/u ... _moron.jpg & I think the next pic is Al pointing them out - http://memegenerator.net/instance/53659171 .
You could always give them their own area & put this sign up - http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... -02160.jpg .

Can quite believe that. I believe several of the idiots who ruined Leeming are also on this forum.
People need to take a long hard look at themselves. I say post the pictures!!!

There are two problems with the pictures I have. The first is that I have no names - easily remedied as the avgeek community is fairly small in relative terms. The other is that I photographed everybody at the fence line over a few days and tried to photograph relevant car reggies (does that make me a spotter?). There might be a few faces and the occasional car reggie that may belong to an innocent person and I don't want to tar everybody with the same brush but I did speak to several folks and explained the situation - these folks parked at the bales or windsock (as suggested) and trundled round the edge of the field. To these folk I say a big THANK-YOU

I will start by posting one chap and his son (possibly) who I encouraged not to cross the field at 05. He ignored me and as I said in my original post, when challenged just shrugged his shoulders. His wife then said to me that they didn't cross the field but I and a few others had just watched them. I should have suggested she become a solicitor (that's a Jock Lawyer).

This shows the path clearly trodden. As of today there is less than 20% of the roots struggling through.

As you can see I've blanked out the childs face - he's not learning the best of manners from this wazuk.

These pics are not copyrighted. Please feel free to share them. This one chap annoyed me most because of his reaction but others are just as guilty. There are the few who heeded my shouts - one chap in a group of three froze and returned to the safety of the compound grass - thanks chap - you are welcome back anytime. As for your other two mates and the rest........

I had a conversation with some spotters at Leeming when I was down for the 1st week of Joint Warrior , they asked about using the farmers field & I explained that it was now a no go area due to idiots not respecting his property & trashing his field together with bad the parking on the road outside when the French Mirage 2000's were up.

They then went on about there being no such thing as trespass & after another 5 min discussion they were still asking so why can't we use the field .
If there had been a brick wall there I think I would have used it myself .

What didn't help was one particular guy already at the fence telling people it was actually OK to cross the field providing you stuck to the "path", this totally contradicted what was being said at the road side of the field and naturally the easy route won....most of the time.

Even temporary signs put up whenever there's going to be an increase in activity could help, and they might just prevent the farmer/MoD from making it totally out of bounds for future events.

Despite Al and other locals pointing out best practice for access especially RW 05 end they were often ignored.
Should "locals" have high-viz jackets ? and other ID? to help visitors.
Signage is good but what would it exactly say? Who would put signs out RAF Police?
If we had a change of runway during the day I could see the geeks simply rush to new end despite what signs would say

Hope something positive can be in place soon before the local enthusiasts find themselves being banned as a result of the actions of the small group of seasonal idiots.

Sad to tread this as Lossie was where I started spotting in the late fifties.
Regretably litter and blatant disregard for others' property is becoming the norm. The mound at Prestwick frequently looks like a tip.
I can't remember the act but those people could be charged with the destruction of growing crops should the farmer make a complaint to the police.
