JW 16-1 Arrivals

Post by Lewis MacRae » Sun Mar 27, 2016 5:04 pm

What would be the best days for the participants arriving? I assume Thursday/Friday

From what i've seen on Facebook, based at lossie will be;

x3 Pavehawks
x2 P8's
x2 P3's (US and Norwegian)
X6 f16
x2 Atlantique
x1 Aurora

Thanks in advance

Lewis

No idea which day who will be arriving but the main brief is on Sunday so most should be there by then. The French sometimes don't bother with the brief :)

  Probably not. It was due back to pick up the stuff it dropped off last time but the offer was politely declined.

There was a Canadian C-130 last week with 'munitions' on board.

I did hear from a normally reliable source that the Pavehawks may be operating out of Stornoway.

Last JW they landed at Stornoway for fuel but operated out of Lossie. I'm sure it will be the same this time.

If anything they will be USN examples operating a glorified taxi service to and from the various USN ships. Last JW one of them transferred an ill/injured sailor to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Yes, but which "USN ships"? The helos are anything but "taxis" - they've been doing a lot of ASW in recent JWs, both in NORTHMAR and out in the Deeps - but there's still no news (or even rumours) of US warships. We know of only 15 warships, 3 submarines and 3 auxiliaries out of an expected 31 units, and 8 of these comprise the two SNGs. Navies with ships on the provisional list so far are:
UK (4)
France (5)
Spain (2)
Denmark (4)
Norway (1)
Netherlands (2)
Germany (3)

The helo's that I'm referring to are HH/MH-60S's, they are not ASW variants but utility .

Could the two Seahawks be operating from USNS Robert E Peary? This ship has been messing about in the English Channel for a week or two.

Sure could be, that ship normally deploys with 2 x HH/MH-60S's that provide vet rep (vertical replenishment)

Understood. It's the SH-60 I'm curious about.
