Joint Warrior October
Re: Joint Warrior October
Al,
Just making the point that those who can't/won't programme a scanner or indeed can't identify where a red and white caravan is parked are unlikely to differentiate between a golf course and a pitch & putt.
Now would it confuse people to describe departures of the x runway to the east as Garmouth & Kingston or would Spey Bay be better. Maybe Old Tom Morris can clarify.

Re: Joint Warrior October
I know Cammy but it does get very galling when everybody else has made the effort to find out these things and boyo comes along and without thinking or putting an ounce of effort into it, just asks the question and demands an answer. Well I for one am not going to help. If there are people who can't program a scanner, then let them seek help elsewhere - the Radio Board is a good place to start - I will be helpful there but this thread is not the place for questions like that. For those who won't program a scanner - I had to, man up and go find out because this thread is not the place to ask.
For those who want to know which end the caravan is at, then look up, judge the wind direction and make a guess. If there are a shitload of cars parked at that end then you're in the right place. If there's not then move clockwise around the base. If it's not out then the flying hasn't started yet - it's that simple.
The rest of us will be there clicking away or jotting down serials having already mastered the equipment, found out the relevant information for ourselves, got off our backsides and set up accordingly.

Re: Joint Warrior October
Maybe we can set up a forum on how to use google using the met office site as part of the learning experience. I'm almost 200 miles away but can find out in seconds what's going on at Lossie and my scanner kicks in about Aviemore so I know as I come across the B9007 where I'm heading be it 05, 23 or the 1st tee.
