Lossiemouth Aircraft Radio Callsigns ''Lossie''
***Reposted from the Callsigns section in the hope of generating some positive response***
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone out there can enlighten me as to how the ''Lossie (Number)'' call signs are allocated across the based P8 & Typhoons squadrons, and are any of the call signs further reserved for use by squadron commanders or even base commander if he is qualified on the based aircraft.
Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards

As often as I have heard numerous Typhoons calling up Lossie, have the Poseidons used Lossie that often if at all?

Poseidon aircraft last year whilst at Kinloss did on occasions use Lossie call-signs eg Lossie 101.

Of course I forgot I had heard LOSSIE 101 last May when Poseidon ZP801 was performing PDs at Edinburgh. Sorry my mistake.
Re: Lossiemouth Aircraft Radio Callsigns ''Lossie''
Lossie 01 is Station Commander
Lossie 02 - OC 2 Sqn
Lossie 06 - OC 6 Sqn
Lossie 09 - OC 9 Sqn
Lossie 101 and Lossie 102 - 54 Sqn crew I think
Haven't managed to work the Sqn system yet as it changed when 9 Sqn came on the scene.

Thanks for all of your replies, if you are able to tie up any further use of the ''Lossie (no's)'' callsigns to specific squadrons and are able to post the information it would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi, I am new to Fighter Control, and keep seeing P8's going up an down the north east coast at high altitude. The modeS code keeps changing, and I have just seen AE6827 going south.
Does anyone know how I can link the codes up please?

That's a tactical Mode-S code of a US Navy P-8. Unless a local read it off on departure it'll probably go unidentified.
Also, once you're at 5 posts on the forum you'll be able to access the Heads Up & OTT section, where such movements are reported.

Looking at it, AE6827 was out of Keflavik not Lossiemouth, so will be harder to ID. The relevant post is here; viewtopic.php?f=8&t=202441
