This isn't a "Heads Up" but a thought that I had last night... 2 x C130 isn't a lot of carrying capacity for a deployment of 14 jets and ground/support crew. I wouldn't be surprised if something somewhat larger makes an appearance (something maybe from Papa, fingers crossed)

At least one, possibly two Chinooks have just passed slightly to the South of Inverness heading towards Kinloss or Lossie.

Went past both Kinloss and Lossie this afternoon, couldn't see anything at Kinloss, C9 must have left. At Lossie the 6 Gripens Al (onemac) mentioned were on 14 Sqns line, no sign of the other 8, hangared maybe :S No signs of life at all around the Gripens or any Tornados, so I left

Hi Niall, are they possibly using one of the HAS sites for the Gripens perhaps ?

I left Lossie just after 09:30L and had the scanner on all the time. The 6 Gripens had landed and as Niall has indicated, parked on 14 Sqn line. I heard nothing from any other Gripens before Scot Mil requested all Lossie jets RTB due to high winds. My mate at Lossie confirms only 6 Gripens arrived. The Herc departed at 08:15L.

Well Mike here goes,i would take this with a pinch of salt, according to the Touchdown Forum,
the Gripens arrived in two waves first one between 9.15 and 9.30 6 of them, the other 8
between 10.40 and 10.50? :S
US Navy C9 left for Sigonella at 12.55 CNV61S1/160051 :S
Saying that Mike this was posted at 7.30 this morning,i have know idea where they got the info? :S
all the best Dougie :D

Looks like they've copied the info from here or Scotavnet maybe ?
I don't know.
As Thunder said earlier,2 x C-130s isn't enough support for 14 aircraft, perhaps there's only 6 involved for JW(which is far more believable).Let's see what Monday brings.

I can confirm the first wave as I saw them fly past my lounge window which overlooks the Moray Firth/West Beach/Runway 23/15R Apron. They landed on 10 using a left hand approach. After that a few Tornados arrived back using 23 IIRC. I sat watching and listening (on the scanner) for more Gripens but saw none and I was in all day (waiting for a delivery which never turned up :@ ). I was in all day yesterday (see Friday's reason  ) and saw and heard nothing again.

Cheers

Sal (still awaiting parcel :@)

Heard today that all of the Gripens are moving to Kinloss on Friday, including ground crew etc and returning to Lossie next Monday, as Lossie is closed over the weekend.

Lossie's usually closed at the weekend though, seems a bit pointless if that's true. Although was it this past weekend or the next?? If it was this past weekend they weren't at Kinloss.
