TCG GOKOVA in Glasgow port

Post by jrmrsdal » Sat May 04, 2019 5:32 am

Hello,

The Turkish vessel TCG Gokova (F496) should be in harbor and is carrying TCB-69 aboard.

Saw a Naval vessel heading up past Arran this morning when at Prestwick, too far away to identify.
Cheers.

If it was between 0930 and 1130, that could have been the Dutch frigate De Ruyter or the American destroyer USS Roosevelt.

St Johns and Absalon are heading that way now.

No sign of the Gokova, so far.

The De Ruyter is in port now.

HMCS St Johns and and Italian Frigate Carlo Bergamini are heading up river now.
Neither have helos on deck.

On Marine Traffic there is a 'US gov vessel' off Arran but showing as a container ship, can anyone confirm if its an Arleigh Burke destroyer? If so, it might be the Carney, pennant number 64 on bow.

Edit: Absalon going into Faslane, Defender arrived a couple of hours ago.

A quick look at the KGV docks earlier - the De Ruyter and St Johns hangars open nothing seen.

A third ship FN Aquitaine hangar closed.

The 4 ships that were at the KGV/Shieldhall in Glasgow all sailed today. Sadly all hangars were closed, so nothing seen. The Turkish ship did not visit Glasgow or Faslane, no idea where is is.

Seawaves was showing it as being in Riga, and I believe that is where the Canadian is heading now.
