With the cancellation of Nimrod MRA 4................................is that the end of this iconic site?
Whilst I don't want to be accused of 'living in the past' - some of our Aviation Greatest achievements were launched from this site and the freedom we enjoy today directly linked to the brave bomber crews of the Lancaster and the Cold War deterrent provided by the Vulcan.
The prospect of another retail park or low cost housing estate rising from the ashes of our once proud heritage with pathetic road names such as Anson Drive, Roe way, Vulcan road etc etc will probably be our only reminder of this proud home of AVRO.
It's a sad, sad end for a once vibrant, proud and dynamic workforce.
Rest in peace

Re: The End?
'603 was still there at the weekend, no news on its future/demise. The RJX is now sat ominously between the hangars as well.........

603 is in a bad state. It looks like the nose is being saved though.

Re: The End?
XM603 can't be moved too far, especially not broken up and moved, it'll never survive it (It's in a worse state than the one at Blackpool was!).
I thought the RJX was owned by Oxford Aviation Academy?
