January 2019 Log/Movements
Happy New Year all.
New thread for the first month of the new year - here is hoping for a good year of flying at Warton, like Tombs RIP mentioned in previous log, it would be nice to finally get a glimpse of the F-35/Texan II over Lancashire skies.
Also an important event this year, the retirement of the RAF Tornado force , I fully expect a farewell tour of the Tonka and Im sure Warton will be part of that.
Also both Saudi Tornados to return back to Sunnier Climates.

The year for retirement of my favourite aircraft.
Re the previous thread, thanks for clarifying re Strikemaster. Will hopefully see it in the future as I missed it Friday.

I suspect things may get even quieter this year than last. If only we could go back in time 10 years or so...

Re: January 2019 Log/Movements
and also to look forward to the dregs of the RAF Typhoon order to fly and be delivered...
cant see any of the Qatari hawks flying by year end as first deliveries targeted in 2021!
Plus the remnants (7 planesets ST039-44+ ST30) of saudi hawk follow on order to be shipped along with a saudi tonka (CS6) plus another to be ferried under its own steam (CS3).
Can't wait...just hope the number of interesting visitors ramps up abit (incl F-35Bs & T-6C Texan IIs) and I don't mean more Jet2s on training flts!
Cheers

Thanks, good video. I’ve seen Strikemaster and Jet Provost before at numerous air shows, I was interested in seeing G-FLYY last week as the paint scheme is unusual compared to the others I’ve seen.AndrewBarclay wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 1:56 pmhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obx8x-mBCCw Specially for Campbell 89
Has there been much activity on the airfield today or just the usual light aircraft doing touch and go?

Re: January 2019 Log/Movements
According to my sources, the "other" Typhoon mentioned by TombsRIP was as he surmised, ZK303 / BT17. IPA6 landed around 10:55

Pirate 22 ILS25+o /shoot 1352z.
Typhoon WTN29 heard on c/out 25 @ 1459z; went to LL in Lakes (1505z); seen LOw over Lytham area I/b Warton @ 1537z (got to be Tarnish 29!!) initials & T/go 25 1541z; then out for SRA (Talkdown) rwy25 for another T/go 1548z. set up for another SRA 25 + T/go 1556z (different pilot flying this approach?). Landed 1600z after yet another T/go in visual circuit @1558z. Guess its ZK303/BT17 up again for more CT.
