Operational Log for June, 2010.
Re: Operational Log for June, 2010.
As previous readers to my logs will testify sometimes I go over the top with my logs on occasions, this is one of those occasions.
First we had an unusual callsign callsign Tarnish 02 my first thought was it the VC 10 returning
but what appeared in the distance was a BAC 146 in fact it was one f the base 146s G.BLRA
land 14.10pm.
bet 2.0pm & 4.00pm The based Hawks and PC 9 went out on TRg sorties
16.05pm out for the first time for a few weeks IPA 6 ZJ 938 Tarnish 5 went out on a sortie
and went to a Scots MilFreq 282.625 later 233.32.
16.15pm Tarnish 17 in Typhoon ZK 308 painted up another single seater departed dry from R26 met up for trials with Typhoon.
16.43pm Rebel 85 in Harrier ZG 860 on rotation some of the banding was dislodged on RTB
at 17.15pm landed taxied back to just past the piano keys and on rotation dislodged more
banding.
17.40pm Tarnish 5 & Tarnish 17 RTB to the circuit due to the problem with the banding T 5
does a T&G and lands opposite Charlie Tarnish 17 does the same all within a few yards of charlie, this goes on for three more T & Gs each aircraft doing very tight and fast circuits

Re: Operational Log for June, 2010.
Perhaps Jenky can enlighten us, one of our local correspondents saw 2 Harriers on Approach to
Warton, one landed and the other flew away, about 17.00 today a multi coloured Harrier was towed onto the north apron for a short engine run, the Harrier was there for about 20 minutes and was towed away. Hopefully it will go today, perhaps 4 Conways may return.

Re: Operational Log for June, 2010.
I normally only go to Warton after noon because of lack of action in the morning, but of
course its the exception that proves the rule.
After my arrival at noon I was informed one of the Warton regulars that the Naval Harrier that had the birdstrike on Monday left earlier in the morning.
12.27pm Avro 02 in VC 10 ZA 149 coded H arrived in the overhead at 1000 feet. Descended to low level and commenced the same trials as last week, the trials went
on until 14.47pm. I gave up counting after 20, some of the trials were clean others with
undercarriage down, some were just above stalling speed and some of the trials were
low and fast.
During the day Archer Formation the 2 JPs landed refuelled, rotated, landed, refulled,
rotated and finally off to Woodvale.
!6.04 IPA 6 ZJ 938 Tarnish 9 usually flies the Tornados very sedate rotation & on RTb
nice T & G to land.
16.13pm Tarnish 5 Typhoon ZK 308 turned at Photo corner taxied to the Rhag, engaged
reheat off before charlie and into vertical mode, nice one Nat, see you on the 24th,deserves a bottle.

Re: Operational Log for June, 2010.
After I left at 6.0pm one of the spotters who regularly visits Warton from Kent described seeing an unusual civil aircraft land at Warton he described it as a twin jet
approx 30 seater he thought it looked similar to a C130 Hercules, it wasnt on the ground for long he didnt get a reg didnt photograph it could not even remember the
time either. Anybody got any ideas as to what it may have been PS What does a Phenem look like not sure of the spelling.

Re: Operational Log for June, 2010.
A short log lots of spotters not many planes.
just prior to 2.0pm Tarnish 5 did a stonking PFAT, in IPA 6, out for hour and a half, on RTB deployed his air brake on first of three T & Gs a lot of happy photographers.

Note for Moderators, as you can see I have pasted the below topic to give credence to
my remarks that the Airbrake Photograph should be in Current Military Aircraft and a worthy
contender for Photo of the Month.

Your "Unusual" civil was a Dornier 328 Jet. I was at work as it floated past.johnhowe wrote:After I left at 6.0pm one of the spotters who regularly visits Warton from Kent described seeing an unusual civil aircraft land at Warton he described it as a twin jet

Chris I think what you saw was Tarnish 8 in a GR4 Tornado ZA 402 with the Tornados wings in the fully swept back position.chrisward123 wrote:single seat Typhoon just gone over my work (Central Preston) on finals to Warton.

The world famous Red Arrows will be making their first visit into Blackpool International this year before heading on to the Whitehaven Air Show.
The Royal Air Force Aerobatic team display team will land at the airport in their distinctive Hawk T1 aircrafts at about 1529 on Sunday 27th June before departing at 1714.
There will be other opportunities to view the Red’s aircraft as they return at 1800 to stop over for the night at Blackpool International before departing for RAF Scampton at 1130 on Monday 28th June
