Operational Log for June/July 2015.
Re: Operational Log for June/July 2015.
What an interesting week we've just had at Warton this week, what with a Government Minister who controls the purse strings, an early arrival of the C 17 originally due on the 11th, July but landed on the 8th and departed early doors on the 9th, interesting to note that ZZ 173 was the same C 17 that arrived on the 18th, May 2013
perhaps its brought a little urn that we might be able to win back again after todays performance.
Unfortunately today I was in the company of an old RAF Pilot and he wanted to look around the Preston Dock area, just as Typhoons were rotating from Warton on
runway 25, we did see one around lunchtime on a long ILS finals to Warton later standing on the Bull Nose gave a good view of the Typhoons flying in the Warton
circuit.
Obviously to see what was flying at Warton this week look at Current Military Photography, see the images captured by our Chief Photographer in Residence, some of his images of the Primer Typhoon look like Air to Air shots, Well done Mickey.

I'm surprised there have been no posts regarding the latest Saudi typhoon delivery under this section of this forum.
Zk602/8003 & zk603/8004 departed before 9am on tues 14/7 on first 2
legs to Taif. They nightstopped in Iraklion before arr in saudi the next day!

Re: latest Saudi delivery: 14 July 2015.
Probably the main reason for no posts re Saudi Typhoon delivery on 14/7/15 was the early departure time of 9.0am most of our photographers don't liveTombsRIP wrote:I'm surprised there have been no posts regarding the latest Saudi typhoon delivery under this section of this forum.

in the Warton area and have the nightmare of struggling through peak hour traffic 7.30am-9.00am along Strand Road in Preston and just to make matters
worse Colas delivered 1000 tons of Bitumen to Lanfina on the docks at 8.0am on the 14/7/15 within 20 minutes of delivery the Colas Super 60 is again returning
over Strand Road with a consist of 14 empty tanks to further windup people trying to get to work.
However this week for the first time a Class 70 is rumoured to be coming probably on Wednesday that should bring in a lot of photographers.
Back to aircraft shortly after Tarnish 9 returned to the Warton circuit in BS 186 with the wings in the fully swept position, Typhoon IPA 1 ZJ 699 called for engine start
low and behold A Cobham Falcon 20 G.FRAT taxied down 07 turned at the piano keys and powered along runway 25 the Falcon had a bird strike only a little swallow,
not many times when a little swallow can stop a falcon and prevent it flying.
Edit; As I arrived home just before 18.00 The North West Air Ambulance descended into a playing field opposite my house to collect a critically ill patient who arrived
by ambulance with a police escort, to be air lifted to hospital.
Re: Operational Log for June/July 2015.
Hi, did anyone take any photos of G-TYPH landing at Warton tonight? I saw some enthusiasts from G-TYPH as we landed (I was on the LHS of the plane just behind the wing) so I waved! PM me if anyone has photos...
Also, there was a Typhoon taxiing in as we landed, and another parked up on the south side (not long back also I imagine) . Which IPAs were they please? I saw two pilots by flight test when I finally got out of the air terminal.

Also a rsaf herk RSF606 (475) dep off rwy25 at 1704L latest dep ive known fir a saudi herk.
Earlier in the day a SS tiffy was seen onclimbout c/s Tarnish 69 at 1136L may also have been BS117 which was also flying last week.

Re: Operational Log for June/July 2015.
Thanks for the info. We landed about 19:08 so not far behind the Typhoon! We were late leaving Munich, so good timing. Bob was one of the pilots (ex Nimrod). I'll have to find out more about BS117, I didn't realise they had a second Tranche 3 Typhoon for development use in addition to BS116 (I've not been in Warton much the last couple of months to keep an eye on the test flight schedule).TombsRIP wrote:A Single seat development tiffy believed to be BS117 was up with IPA1/zj699 yesterday late afternoon /early evening using callsigns Fighter & Target (they may have swopped them at some stage. both were seen LOW over Lytham on climbout to NW at 1723L and 1725L.
