POW on the Mersey

Admittedly this is a bit of a long shot. When the POW comes to the Pool on the 28th, does anyone have any idea the time of arrival? It's obviously to do with the tides ect. The reason I ask, I wouldn't mind getting a chance to shoot her arrival from Fort Perch Rock, at the mouth of the Mersey. I'm not going to bother getting up close when she's moored up, the city centre will be chocka with every man and his dog coming to have a look.

"Pillock" I've not heared that word for a while.

An old (non swearing) friend used to use it occasionally, and if he got really agitated you got a "Blooming" from him.

How things change aye, nowadays people use swear words like commas.

I concur with you on that Dave. Admittedly I'm no angel myself, but I do mind my French when the fairer sex are about. Having said some of the most atrocious expletives that I've heard lately have come from women

I understand that the Prince of Wales will arrive on the 28th, and sail on the 6th March,2020 on arrival she will do a
180 degree turn around so if there is an emergency she is facing in the right direction to sail.

The tide on the 28th, February is 8-8 Mtrs 28 ft 9 inches and diminishes to 7.7 mtrs 25 ft 3 inches on the 6th March

For live views of the Mersey.....POW should arrive around 0500-0600 , meanwhile SL is off the bar and should enter the Mersey very shortly.
Unfortunately all the free tickets to go aboard POW have been snaffled , totally over subscribed , in fact they are asking anyone who received a ticket to go aboard and now cannot make it , to return
their allocation so that more folk will get the chance to see her.
Those tickets [ if any ] will be available from tomorrow.

If you are lucky you might see a few aircraft on board...2 merlins + a wildcat on this occasion...there were more at Altcar Ranges recently...

What a diabolical day weather wise driving rain it reminded me of the 22nd August, 1987 The last Lightning Show then as today I
waited for hours for the main event. I did actually feel quite excited to see The Aircraft Carrier The Prince of Wales slowly emerge
from the driving rain and glide majestically along the River Mersey to its mooring at Liverpool Pier Head.

As well as the Royal Navy Merlin on the deck along with a wildcat it was nice to see the other Royal Navy Merlin flying around the
carrier in a defensive role.

Hopefully when the carrier sails on the 6th, March the weather will be fine.

The Prince of Wales will depart from Liverpool at 15. 45pm on Friday the 6th, March, 2020 with the band of H.M Royal Marines in
attendance plus her Merlin escort.

From local TV news a wildcat & merlin all wrapped up looking rather lost on the grey expanse of deck plus another merlin (HM2) down below on hangar deck.

ZH853 was the Merlin on the deck Saturday morning along with a Wildcat. A Lynx , Gazelle and plastic Typhoon near the POW on the dockside too.

Peel Ports 'Notice To Mariners' has the same departure time so you can guarantee that time is accurate (subject to weather..)

ZH853 was the Merlin on the deck Saturday morning along with a Wildcat. A Lynx , Gazelle and plastic Typhoon near the POW on the dockside too.

ZZ397 wildcat departed tues am as "Rascal 385". It arrived on board last fri as "Rascal 1". The other in formation, ZZ381 (Rascal 2) also 815NAS, never made it to the carrier last fri, diverting into Valley with a reported issue. Apparently ZZ381 dep Valley for a "photo sortie" to the carrier on mon, as "Rascal 725", around lunchtime, before returning to Valley for hot refuel and departing sth RTB. Wasn't there another merlin down on the hangar deck? HM2 ZH853 should be coded 68 with 814NAS.
