LPL (Speke) 29/01/2020

Post by MrBlueSky » Wed Jan 29, 2020 6:16 pm

Night Flying at Valley and just after 18:00 Hawk's ZK033 and ZK026 have done ILS approaches on Rw 27 and looks like ZK031 is going to do the same. None needed by the way

Saw most of the T2s on first flt from Brough landing at Warton. Aka Mk128s at that time. Of course they came came thro Warton after period of storage for more mods before eventually going into service. They place 1 or 2 in temp storage now at Valley.

Strange, I was fairly regular at Warton from 2005-2013 and always thought the Hawks were roaded in to Warton for final assembly as the runway at Brough was unusable at that point...

From Wiki: The aircraft's maiden flight occurred on 27 July 2005 from BAE Systems' Warton Aerodrome.

Weren't the first 2 (ZK010 & '011) flown in to Warton and the rest brought in by road?

Edit :- Looking through some old logs for 2010 in the Warton section it appears that some others were flown in.

I think you're correct and the first one to take it's 1st flight (from Brough to Warton) was ZK012/RT003 on 04/08/08 :- https://www.flightglobal.com/hawk-128-e ... 02.article

ZK010/RT001 fuselage plus wingset arr Warton (obviously by road) to 358 Hangar on 17/6/05; PFAT1 27/7/05 (1hr 17 mins).
ZK011/RT002 fuselage following on 23/1/06 (after wing arr 20/1); PFAT1 6/3/06 (only lasted 14mins). Both aircraft had completed up to EGRs at Brough prior to breakdown for roading over Pennines.
ZK012/RT003- ZK037/RT028 all first flts from Brough between 4/8/08 (RT003) - 3/11/10 (RT028).
