As rumoured earlier there will be a Fly in on Saturday 3rd January. Landing fee £10.
New owner is hoping ro remove the white crosses from the runways
No further details at present but this off the PPrune forum. Sounds like good news!

Seems to have been a resounding success, with around 200 visiting aircraft according to reports. :P

It was a cracking day, approx 250 visiting aircraft and unrestricted access to all the airfield buildings. Superb. Thanks to the organisers and the airfield owner, Chris Makin.

Hopefully it's something that they will repeat in the summer months. Couldn't make it there myself but saw a lot of the stuff coming in from the west flying lowish over Rothwell.

It was mad, at one point you could clearly see 10+ aircraft approaching the runway! Real celebratory atmosphere though, fantastically warm hangar too with refreshments and a rather splendid military vehicle display. Some heavier stuff next time please - warbirds and maybe a jet or two!

I looked out for you Dav but did not see you. That must be the warmest hangar I have ever been in ! I dont think I would like to pay the bill though.

I had a very enjoyable, if cold few hours there. An excellent event at a fantastic airfield, I look forward to visiting again soon.
I`m waiting to see what the 100 jobs that will be created are :thumb:

Hi Ben, there were loads of folk I managed not to bump into, that said, a bit bigger and busier than Breighton!
I hear you Linton but I'm thinking big - I want JPs, Spitfires and Mustangs please LOL! The only aircraft sporting military schemes were the Cub and the Bulldog. There was also a Chipmunk at the fly-in although I missed it (I actually didn't know that the Yak was a warbird either - cool!). The total attendees now seems to be between 198 - 214 aircraft as opposed to the original guestimate which was being mooted during the day itself.

I'm really interested to see how the whole thing pans out. To create 100 jobs sounds like it's going to be a sizeable operation. Something on the lines of Gamston perhaps?

I reckon it will take considerable investment to make it viable but securing the site in the first place was a very good move. Unfortunately it appears to have been almost criminally neglected over the past 15 years.
