RAF Linton on Ouse finally closes it doors on the 18th December 2020. :( Another one bites the dust and having spent the last 6 years there as part of the AOAC, one base I am really sad to see go...Ah well onwards now to RAF Topcliffe.

Can you confirm that the Station is closing on the date you quote?

I had read elsewhere that it was just the airfield/ATC that was closing by end of December 20, with the actual camp not closing until end of March 22.

Cheers,

FF

They're building like they're expecting a huge increase in the local population imminently. My guess is there's a housing estate in Linton's future. Future streets to be called ' Tucano Lane' and 'Provost Close' etc...

Does anybody have any photos of Linton over the years they could post? , would be great to see these from the Provost T1 era through JP to Tucano (did they also have Vampire T11s?). A nice tribute to a once well visited base. Thanks.

Hi Alf. I have a good collection of Linton pics dating back to the early '80s taken during 100s of visits to the viewing area. I'll trawl through them and post a selection sometime in the near future.
