Hi All,
I appreciate this topic has been covered at some length on different parts of this site but I would appreciate a little bit of guidance from the local guys here at Leeming. I live on the outskirts of Northallerton.
I have the opportunity to treat myself to a scanner ( this is a treat for me as previously only ever owned an the old bush air band radio in the good old 80s ).I would like a good all rounder for military and civil tracking. It seems that the general consensus of opinion is that the Uniden bearcat 3500XLT is the one to buy for the price range £ 2-300.
I also wonder if there were any more gizmos or gadgets that provide more tracking / spotting information.
As this is a special purchase I would be grateful for any thoughts on this matter.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Regards
Garry

Uniden Bear Cat 3500 is your best bet, I`ve used one with a Watson super gainer antenna, and its the best as far as I am concerned.
easy to programme (via computer) and great reception, you cant go wrong with this one

Hi Gary.. I have had the 3500 for a few months and am very pleased with it and the Watson antenna. We spend our weekends at south otterington and pick up RAF Leeming, Linton, dishforth etc where ground and air reception is great. I sometimes pop into Leeming on a Friday where the reception is even better, obviously.
Don't be shy in asking someone with a scanner .. They probably are keen to assist where possible.
