Farmers field end of 34
Well thanks to the ***** in the field yesterday the farmer has now banned anyone from his field.
The police have attended this morning and anyone caught will be done for trespassing.
The B&b have also played a part in this by complaining about cars parked outside and causing an obstruction.
Thanks again for us that are local we're all pretty sure that these ***** are from further a field.
Another spot spoilt by the ***** within the community of aviation enthusiast

Re: Farmers field end of 34
Hi,
I was at Leeming on Tuesday and as I am primarily interested in numbers I spent the morning in the viewing area.
Everyone I saw behaved impeccably (apart from Mr Mardle who was suffering from the Plague) and naturally used the rubbish bins provided.
I think you will find it is mainly photographers who use the farmers field.
(We get a lot of this at my local field (Farnborough) where photographers put their decorators ladders into the flower beds that are in the office car park next to the fence- 'number crunchers' just briefly use the car park then depart whereas the photographers have a different requirement which I suspect will result in the car park going off limits)
cheers
Mike

Re: Farmers field end of 34
I was there yesterday and parked down from the b&b, there were certainly no obstructions as far as i could tell.
I then walked carefully down the edge of the field (avoiding treading on any crops) and also picked up some litter (an empty coke bottle) that someone else had left.
I hope this doesn't spoil it for the locals as i've seen for myself what a mass incursion of spotters/photographers can do (like at coningsby when the saudi's were there!).

What a shame!
I'm absolutely gutted!
Was hoping to get up to Leeming next week for some action, but that looks like its been scrapped now as there aren't many other places around the airfield (just the waterworks) where you can get decent views of the aircraft.

Just beggars belief this. I`m from a far but spent a very pleasant day there during Trial Mace with the locals and it was great. Everyone very sensibly using the side and I asked to go down there. I think sadly some just don`t engage brain. There`s always one that upsets the apple cart like Cby (I organised the whip round with one other). Hopefully when this ex is over, perhaps some of the locals could have a friendly chat again. |I too hoped to visit.
Fingers crossed this can be sorted out. Regards, Ian

Any chance on elaborating as to what the problem was yesterday as I was one of the so called ****/**** that was in the Field and as far as I could see everyone kept to the edge of the field and when I left there was no rubbish in sight. As for cars parked outside of the B&B again as far as I could see there was no cars obstructing entry in or out of the place.michael1970 wrote:Well thanks to the ***** in the field yesterday the farmer has now banned anyone from his field.

The police came along the road but turned around and departed.

Re: Farmers field end of 34
Didn't realise we were ****/**** for parking on a public road (with NO yellow lines) and not blocking anyone's drives as well as making sure we all walked by the edge of the field (not on the crops) and at no time at all (while i was there) did the police turn up to check on us or move us along.
Are you sure it was wednesday's ****/**** as you so eloquently put it?
ps - i even picked up litter (empty coke bottle) that some other 'prat' had dropped with no regard to anyone else!

Re: Farmers field end of 34
I was being kind the farmer was not so polite with his wording about Wednesdays visitors and unless I'm mistaken yesterday was Wednesday so yes his complaints are relative to yesterday as he is the land owner with the compliant about Wednesday.
Top and bottom of it is the farmer is sick of people damaging his crops, knocking on his door, finding rubbish in the corner of his field and getting grief from his neibours with regards to the vehicles parked at the side of the road whilst people are in his field.
They live there you don't so show some respect it's their street without your cocky no yellow lines so can do what I want attitude.
At the end of the day the exercise started Monday so you could argue that from Monday to Wednesdays visitors have caused the issue and only those present know what happened on those days.
I've been going in and out of that field for 15 years and never had any issues until today.
But the farmer has made his mind up, enter after today and he will call the police as you are trespassing on his land.

Walking around the edge of a field does not make things okay. Some farmers are sometimes touchy about walking around fields, especially when it is not a footpath. Put it another way, what would you do if someone walked down the edge of your garden to take a photo over your hedge.

Re: Farmers field end of 34
Listen guys. We have all seen it. It's not jut the farmers field at leeming that gets **** or **** ruining things. Most people do have common sense and do their best and give their upmost respect to the farmers and their land, but there will also ways be those stupi folk who do things first and think later, the whole 'blown by the bone' incident comes straight to mind! leeming is a great place (when something actually happens) and I've been going for many years with Michael and my late father without hassle. I'm sorry to say, but it's these public forums that give these knuckle dragging - cannot read a book (apart from where's Wally) Neanderthals the info to go and ruin things for the genuine caring public/photographers.
We as humans all have downfalls. These days, it seems that people with common decency and respect are found few and far between the fence lines of military stations world wide.
This is only directed at the people who'd struggle to read this, so I think you're all safe on this thread.

Re: Farmers field end of 34
Leagally speaking, and I realise this isn't going to be a popular view.
You can safely ignore any "Trespassers wil be prosecuted" signs on private land in England (not sure about Scotland). Trespass on it's own is not a criminal offence. As long as you are not damaging the crops (which would be a different criminal offence anyway) there is not much the police can do - particularly if you are on your own. The land owner might not want you on their land, but they would need to take action against you in the civil courts to have you removed/evicted.
If I were in said field, and the police turned up I would politely ask what offence they suspected me of comitting. Without a satifactory answer to that question they shouldnt do anything. If they do answer with some statute, then note it down together with the officers number and comply with their requests to leave. Once home investigate what criminal act they are suspecting you of. If it's a load of hogwash, write a formal letter of complaint to the officers cheif of police explaiing what happened. The police ate there to uphold the law - not make it up as they go along. Then print out the section of the act, and take it with you next time. Then if/when the police come a second time, you can show them the exact letter of the law , and ask them to explain why they think you are contraveining it.
Yes the farmer has rights. But so do you.
Cheers
Malcolm

Re: Farmers field end of 34
I'm still wondering what wednesday's group of spotters/photographers did that was so different to any other group on any other day that stood there?
As i said, i parked totally legally without causing obstruction to any driveways, i walked round the edge avoiding the crops and i also picked up some litter (that was probably dropped on another day, not by the wednesday crew) therefore trying to show respect to the local farmers/homeowners.
Please explain why wednesday was any different.

Wednesday was not different to any other day, see and I qoute flying slugs post at the top of the RAF Leeming thread
Hi all. This is just a reminder that, if you are thinking of visiting Leeming to view the aircraft please, please please respect the land that you might have to cross to get a better view.
I visited yesterday (7.10.13) and was greeted with complaints regarding people walking straight down a freshly planted field of crops, dropping of litter and basically not giving a dam to the farmer or fellow photographers.
I'm referring to the RW 34 end. The farmer WILL fence the area off if this happens again. Any damages, will be taken up by the farmer and charges will be made to any individual that he sees.
If you see other regulars by the fence and want to join them, please do so but walk along the side of the field, please take your litter home with you too. The farmer lives in the white house on the left hand side, it would be very much appreciated if you got permission first.

Re: Farmers field end of 34
So can people still go there or not as (according to michael1970) the farmer is sick of people knocking on his door so how can anyone go and ask permission . . . all seems very contradictory!

Richard
I think you have mis-understood my post.
Wednesday was no different only because the problems started on Monday as stated by flying slug who posted his warning on tuesday.
The information you have as of today is the field is still off limits.

it just seems as though wednesday's group was being singled out for behaving badly.

Add my 2p to this debate
first off I am gutted that we are no longer allowed in the field - but it only takes one to spoil it for the whole lot of us and there has been more than one instance where things have happened and the Farmer Peter has 'tolerated' it but said nothing
as a farmer trying to earn a living in bad economic times why should he see his crops get walked on and have the police always knocking on his door along with his closest neighbours getting peed off with him through no fault of his own along with rubbish left stuffed all under the hedges etc
what exactly does he get out of this but ear ache from all sides!!!
all the chat on here seems to be we all behaved well etc which in 99% of the cases is true - it is the 1% that has spoiled the viewing for the rest
a thing that I know annoys the Farmer Peter is people just walk into his field and DONT ASK
they just see one person across the field then think it is alright to enter and the next time he looks across there is suddenly 30 people stood there standing on top of the hedges and pulling the hedge to bits to get a bit nearer
add all this together and it paints a sorry picture for us as aviation enthusiasts - and despite repeatedly saying to people ASK HIM FIRST most dont so hardly a surprize that we are now all banned from the field
I and 3 others have had a good relationship with him for the last 3 years chatting and putting the World to rights etc and not had a problem but last year 3 Germans and two non local spotters actually ran down the middle of the corn field totally flattening his wheat crop and big Phill game them a right bollocking and told them to clear off they went back and then reappeared 10 minutes later saying they had spoken to the farmer (they had'nt) we had a big bust up with them but at the end of the day it not Phill's job to act as a police man - and this is why this has now come about
the cottages where the spotters park there cars have always been un-spotter friendly with Looks that could kill sometimes - but having said that parking there is not breaking any Laws so they cannot stop it
but the point is if the police and all the neighbours are giving him grief why should he put up with all this BS
like I said at the beginning I go there a Lot and am utterly gutted that it has now come to a head
I have not seen Peter the farmer this week but I would suggest we respect his wishes and keep out till things either alter or he has a change of heart
Chris
