Spitfire out + about

Post by F3 » Thu Jul 11, 2019 3:09 pm

At about 1115 today a Griffon engined Spitfire flew over my house in Rotherham heading south. Had obviously been doing a display or flypast somewhere. Anyone know where - Great Yorks Show p'haps?

Quite possibly T.IX NH341/DB-E/G-CICK which flew south at about that time but has a late Merlin 266 which may sound like a Griffon ?

Hi it flew past my house low then did a steep left bank then headed South. My location is Trimdon Station Co Durham. Also believe he was at DTV doing a overshoot, previous to me seeing him regards Noel

I think it may be operated by Aero Legends at Headcorn ? I emailed them about it's route on Thursday but no reply as yet .

Aero Legends replied and thanks to them for taking the time to do so ;

Flying one of very lucky customers for a 90 minute airborne experience from Sywell Aerodrome, near Northampton. For three or four days a month we run Spitfire Passenger Flights from Sywell. Also from North Weald Aerodrome and Headcorn Aerodrome, Kent (our base).
