i think it's a result of a drunken liaison between a Herc and a Tucano.....

Two Hercules were active today ; ZH868 c/s Zoro 1 and ZH883 c/s Zorro 2 plus Osprey 08-0051 c/s Knife 71 .
There is also a tethered blimp at Topcliffe , NOTAM'ed to be in use from the 3 to the 14 September and there is a NOTAM for night flying and a parachute drop tonight .

ps Since when was this site a grammar and spelling test?

There’s nothing wrong surely with all adhering to a common language and spelling? Makes things a lot easier to read and understand.

I used to be a school governor at two schools (Primary & Secondary) which entailed attending meetings after a day's work. At one meeting, at the Secondary School and after a particularly challenging day at work, rival council factions spent over an hour debating if the Chair should be addressed as the Chairman, Chairperson or Chairwoman, taking great pleasure in points scoring off each other. This was my last meeting. I respectfully suggest that (once I have had my say), the subject of Herc & Hurc is put to bed. Its is an Herc to some people, but if one has never seen it written down and heard (or is that herd?) people talking, then one would go for (and there's no problem with it) the phonetic spelling "Hurc". Life's to short - but it wasn't very nice of the contributor to ridicule the spelling when it was obvious what was meant, and more likely than not did not involve strong drink.

I do agree with the above to an extent, it's all a little pedantic and my post further above was only pointing out why the criticism had been levelled at the O.P.
However I will say, now my pedantic head has been activated that it isn't a Hurcules is it!
