Tucano "Twister 3" at Leeming on April 12th

Post by Toplist14 » Sat Apr 16, 2016 11:05 am

A somewhat low-key request, given all that is going on at Leeming at present - but did anyone who braved the truly foul conditions on Tuesday afternoon ID the 1 FTS Tucano which launched around 2.30 as "Twister 3"? That would complete a very sparse log!

Ian

Incidentally, "new" callsigns heard being used by 1 FTS this past week (in addition to "Twister") included "Easy", Blazer", Export" and "Rocket"

I thought it was Twister 2 was ZF293, had to hold for about 40 minutes whilst runway was black. Twister 3 did an approach but never landed.

Other tucano that diverted I was Lima48 ZF491

Hope this helps

Steve

That's most helpful. But I thought "Twister 3" was the one that was at VASS, before departing (eventually) back to Linton. It only held briefly on 34 asking for the cable state, before launching.

Steve

Thanks again. I have checked the R/T recording on the day and it was definitely "Twister 3" that departed around 2.30. Can you confirm that this would have been ZF293 please?

Yes, the Rafales certainly are providing a great deal of interest at Leeming - and even the presence of the Typhoons gingers up the pace a little!
