But not the space? I'd imagine that the 2 current bases will be quite full both in the circuit and on the ground?

RAF Leuchars? Still got some of the infrastructure left over from the Typhoons, newly resurfaced runway, enough space and before anyone says it, the RAF is still in Leuchars even though it is Army run now.

I hear conflicting reports on Leuchars, and what is meant by infrastructure? (I know what it is!, I work in aviation operations, but what is "left"? I'd imagine anything that was needed at Lossie was taken?). I guess it's fair to say that Leeming is the more current and operational airfield of the two, and therefore it would be cheaper ultimately to grow existing rather than add (reintroduce) new. Also would the army be restricted beyond their requirements and need to move if the RAF returned to Leuchars? I'm just throwing these out and not stating an opinion one way or the other, just thoughts.

Ultimately, however, our thoughts are worthless and the bean counters and MoD will decide.....

Are there usually any movements/arrivals during the weekend with these excercises?

Sometimes, don't think the Germans or Turks last April flew. The maritime detachment at Lossiemouth deffo fly as they did when the P3S were at leeming in October 2014

Thanks for the information. Was a bit puzzled by the start date being a Sunday.
I'll wait and see what turns up on the 11th. :)

The pre exercise briefing normally takes place on the Sunday therefore the majority of players are usually in place by the Friday before.

Morning

Does anyone know when the French are due to arrive? If previous years are to go by then I would expect them on the Thursday before the exercise is due to take place. This would make arrival day the 7th April??? can anyone confirm?

Cheers
Mark

Your Rafales should be from EC02-030 Normandie-Niemen from Mont de Marson and the Mirages (if it's true) will be from EC01-002 Cigones from Luxeuil

No Mirages taking part in JW. 4 FAF Rafales operating from Leeming for Griffin Strike along with an expected 8 RAF 2(AC) Typhoons. 4 FN Rafales will also operate from Landivisiau.

Griffin Strike participants may take part in JW missions and vice versa.
