ZK553, 554 &, 559 or the Three Chinooks operating out of Leeming. Two of them have gone North earlier.

Adding to Sam''s post above ZK550 confirmed with non-standard Hex CAFEAB at Groningen 26-09-21
More recently the note from Lee on Solent was a sighting from 26-07-22, same hex/serial tie--up
No recent movments noted by serial number on ads b nl which may be a function of the mis-coded hex

>> Additional : Allocated hex is/was 43C7CD just in case it ever reverts

Hope this helps too
Best regards,
Paul

Additional : Prestwick thread has a note for single Chinnok for today as Lifter 1 but no serial yet reported

1940L 2 x HH60 transiting westbound to the north of Hull following manoeuvres over Holderness.

Any ideas of serials gratefully received.

Making the leap and it being the same pair, one was showing on ADSB Exchange with ALLIED1 and a hex of AE5CBB. Flew over York circa 1830ish

Hi Guys

I I may comment on CAFEAB...
Adding to Sam''s post above ZK550 confirmed with non-standard Hex CAFEAB at Groningen 26-09-21
More recently the note from Lee on Solent was a sighting from 26-07-22, same hex/serial tie--up

It's worth noting that this miscode has been used by several RAF Chinooks since May 2020, namely ZA710; ZH896; ZK550; ZK552 & ZK563. Of those, it appears that only ZA710 has reverted to using its original hex code, and so the rest *may* all still be pinging this miscoded hex. To complicate the picture further, I was doing some 'digging around' earlier, and it seems that the merry band above have since been joined by ZA680 which used CAFEAB on its trip from the Berlin show to Odiham in June & again when calling into Headcorn on 21st August.

In terms of our mystery ship at Leeming it may well be ZK550 as suggested of course, but if that confirmation is based on the hex code alone, then it could equally be one of several other machines... with the probable exception of ZH896 & ZK552 which were operating outwith the UK (El Centro & Op Shader respectively) last time I checked.

Best wishes

Monday 12th. I read off ZK550 & ZK553 departing from Leeming at approx. 16:00bst. They were followed out by an Apache about 10mins later. At the same time H60 26205 & 26471 landed with the 3rd one 26774 readable on the ramp used by 100Sqdrn when active on my last visit. FYI a photographer confirmed ZK550 from his shots when we discussed things before I left.
Thanks for the correction to 26471. Read my log book wrong.

I was there from 1645 to 1815 last night.

The HH-60Gs from 56QRS are 26471 (not 741), 26774 and 26205. The latter was involved in some kind of emergency yesterday evening with 3 fire tenders and 1 ambulance in attendance on arrival.

Apache ZJ215/43C26C/"Machete 1" was flying about - couldn't see any other Apaches about. One Chinook was left on the airfield which must be ZK554.

Hawks ZB132 and ZB134 landed during that time and ZB131 and ZB135 departed.

At 1645 a GAF Tronado flew over "RAGE 11/3F7312" but I don't know serial.

Hi
From what I understand, Chinook ZK554 went home on Friday 2nd September and was replaced by ZK550. The one left of the airfield should be ZK559?

Was Apache ZJ215/43C26C/"Machete 1" confirmed, or serial tie-up taken from ADSBx?

I Saw 2x HH60s today. 26471and 26205
2x Chinooks
1x merlin
1x wildcat possibly ZZ516?
Sorry my photos were terrible, so really hard to get any registration numbers off anything other than the pave hawks.
They all departed from RAF Spadeadam just before 1300 today.

Just a quick reminder that ALL photos belong in ONE of the appropriate photo sections - current photos in this case I guess or low level but then all helicopters would be in there 😅
