Opposite direction to the viewing area, follow the long road out of the viewing area keeping the airfield on your left hand side keep going past the tower and row of farm houses. Go straight past the turn off for the a1/bedale and take a left turn after the lorry park, crashgate 8 is at the end of the road.

The taxiway is directly infront of you although the aircraft are side on, if you have a tall set of steps you can get some good shots.

I arrived just in time to see a pair depart at 14:09, can't say if they were the first though.

Currently, one pair at circa 14:10, what sounded like another two pairs at circa 15:15 and 15:17 (which I think are still out), and it also sounded like a pair went out this morning circa 11:20.

Perhaps someone who`s been to Leeming today will confirm later.

I got a pair depart at 14:09, a pair at 14:31 and another pair at 15:08. 2 recovered at 15:18, 2 at 15:45 and the last 2 are currently on their way in.

Did any of the F18s go low level this week? I tried to bag them on Wednesday and blanked. Last year they flew a dusk navex every day.

Two Hornets went low level yesterday (Monday) on the 14:30 launch. They tracked west out of Leeming and were cleared down to 500 feet. Suspect LFA17

Thanks Tony. Since I moved house I can't see what enters the Windermere Lowfly system like last year. I had the scanner on at about 14:40 and got a LL blip so that could have been them. Thanks for the post. Going to give it another go next week.
