Hi there you don't happen to know which of them flew as Avenger 11 flight, they had a PD @ Leuchars, overshooting @ 15.06?

Thanks,

Michael

Afternoon chaps, I’m trying to chase down the serial of the 10th Hornet that should have arrived, I’ve logged these via Fighter Control and Leeing Facebook Spotters page.

F/A-18Cx8
J-5001, J-5004, J-5008, J-5009, J-5016, 5018 (The panther tail), J-5024, J-5026,

F/A-18Dx2
J-5234

So is there one D in hiding (gone tech) at Leeming, or not arrived or are there 9 C’s and i have one serial missing, or are there only 9 aircraft present?
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

There`s only 9 a/c at present, per the official Swiss AF Press Release, part of which states:

Bern, November 15, 2021 - From November 15 to December 10, 2021, members of the Swiss Air Force will train with up to nine F / A-18 fighter jets and three Cougar helicopters in RAF Leeming (GBR). The training in Northern England - called YORKNITE - is a central component of the night flight training of the Air Force. The Air Force completes around half of its annual night flight training with the fighter jets. The helicopters of the Swiss Air Force will take part in the YORKNITE for the first time. The COvid-19 situation represents an aggravating framework. A bilaterally approved protection concept, which also requires a complete vaccination status, ensures maximum protection against the risks of infection.

J-5001 has most likely arrived at the Det` in connection with the live firing component of the exercise expected to take place off Benbecula.

Looking at the NOTAM it doesn’t look like there’ll be any weekend flying throughout the duration of the exercise, unfortunately.

Hi guys.

Can anyone tell me if the serials of the aircraft will be readable if shot on a very high ISO at night from the viewing area? Just in case anyone else has tried it already. I can't get there in daylight hours and my last three are there so might try an evening but I would probably miss the launch so would be chancing it on landing. I can't remember how well lit it is there.

Cheers Paul

Hi Paul

If you’re doing long exposure yes you can see the serials. If using handheld with iso which gives a lot of grain it might be more difficult. Go to crashgate 8 so you are closer to them.

Opposite direction to the viewing area, follow the long road out of the viewing area keeping the airfield on your left hand side keep going past the tower and row of farm houses. Go straight past the turn off for the a1/bedale and take a left turn after the lorry park, crashgate 8 is at the end of the road.

The taxiway is directly infront of you although the aircraft are side on, if you have a tall set of steps you can get some good shots.

Checkout the leeming spotters page on facebook for spotting guides!
