Tornado GR4 over Wittering 22nd June 2011 I.D.

Post by XPLUMBER » Wed Jun 22, 2011 2:53 pm

I had the pleasure of watching a GR4 for 40 minutes this afternoon as it "bombed and strafed" Wittering, it looked like a Two Sqn machine but I would love to know for sure. It arrived at approximately 14:40 and left towards Marham at 15:25.

Is anyone aware of which aircraft I was watching?

At least one, they started this morning and are still orbiting at between 2 and 3 thousand feet, I suspect today may involve using some optical/targetting equipment!

Well today the Tornado or several Tornados (one at a time) have been flying the same track (Dead North) repeatedly at about 2000 feet. Poor sods must be very bored!

I love the fact that all my friends on facebook from around Stamford have commented about "the stupid planes"... This must of been a mass operation for the Tornadoes and Typhoons, were they over Wittering most of the late evening or just flying around Stamford, Wittering and Cottesmore areas?
