Hi Gary
Thanks. I had picked up the info about next week. The July exercise was quite interesting to watch. Although it was dark it was possible to pick out the aircraft as they flew circuits and made the approach , landing and the manoeuvres on the runway.
The images were somewhat on the dark side

C-17 ZZ174 did a number of passes. Such excitement in the village! (South Witham)

Thanks that explains the lack of noise as it banked round Oakham.

Omen1 arrived just after 2004hrs and was still around at 2115.

An excellent exhibition of low level night flying. Try 122.100, at 2124hrs still flying a pair of handcuffs pattern.

An orange tinted gibbous moon. If I hadn't put my foot in a bl....y puddle it would have been a perfect evening.

C130

Cheers

:ninja:

Fun shot of Omen1 from astern taken just prior to touchdown on the threshold of 04.

Flashing Nav lights, landing lights on, caught in the prop blur.

Liking the image, good to see a different attempt.
Explanation gives an understanding of the effect result too.

Morning,
Not much cloud about, let's hope that it a good Omen for this evening
I haven't found anything to contradict the NOTAM so there may be some activity, if as previously, 2000hrs for an arrival. The sensible move would be to phone the number and ask! ADSB doesn't always pick up movements.
Fun photos RM. You should see the gezillions of black rectangles with blobs of blurred spots of colour. Beats watching TV
Full report later ;)

A great opportunity to really ramp up the ISO.
Financially, nothing is lost; alternatively, you'll find the limits of the camera sensor and ISO handling capability.
As the press says (and often shows), a noisy picture is better than a blurred one, or none at all!
In-camera noise reduction and good software can go some way to minimising this effect.
I've been out and about at night, with auto-ISO at 12000 - 250000 ISO to experiment.
Give it a go.
