As the RAF Waddington international airshow draws to a close, the base is gearing up for the latest addition to its fleet of aircraft.
Three RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft will arrive at the Lincolnshire base by the end of the year.
The surveillance planes will replace the Nimrod aircraft which were taken out of service.
The RAF bought the planes from the United States Air Force and they will be fitted with state-of-the-art spying equipment to gather intelligence and intercept communications including radar and voice transmissions.

Availability contract? That's news to me. We are buying them as sovereign assets, not leasing them.
