Waddington 14/15th weekend

Post by Alf » Sun Sep 15, 2024 7:34 am

All the CW arrivals are outside and visible this weekend with the exception of Finnish F-18 HN-452 which is still in the temporary looking hangar close to crash gate 5. The Canadians and Finns are easy enough to see from CG-5 (and a short walk along the track to the left of the gate) and the Polish from the A15 WAVE side of the base with a little bit of walking up and down.

Hi everyone.

Just done the the same as Alf ..all his information is correct and very useful .

The only additional info I can add is that you can see all the Polish from the A607 from where the new houses start on the right as you come in to Waddington Village.

The hardest to see is the F16 that is the last one on the right as you look across.

This sits to the Right of the Vulcan and is tail on.

Thanks for the info Alf...much appreciated 👍...hope you don't mind the extra info added.

Have a great CW everyone...enjoy and stay safe.

Regards.

3 of the Poles can be easily read (4050, 4060 and 4061 yesterday) by walking up the track that runs East to West along the perimeter fence on the Eastern side of the base, accessed from the A15 opposite the B1178 Bardney road.

Oops. Didn't see any signs, but that doesn't mean they weren't there I guess. I opted not to drive down just in case, I know many years ago when the ACMI deployments were on it was OK to drive down, but that doesn't mean things are still the same. I'll have a look next time I am in the area (which to be fair will probably be next exercise!)

Understood. I'm not on FB for a number of reasons, so that would explain why I've not seen anything. I got what I need, fortunately I don't need the missing Finnish Hornet, so that takes care of my annual, or at best biannual, visit to Waddington!
