An E3 was doing ground run on Friday, callsign Hedgehog 06 - normally the number relates to the Aircraft, so 106 maybe due for one last flight somewhere?

Still no sign of any more Sentinels when I passed on Wednesday.

I don't know about Waddo but at Coningsby the callsign Hedgehog** is used for the big aircraft tugs.

At Waddington, Hedgehog is the call sign utilised by the Sentry ground engineers, as Mike states the numbers relate to the last two of the aircraft serial.

ZH106 has been on servicing for the past few months with Draken (formerly Cobham) who have the Sentry maintenance contract. Currently carrying out post servicing ground runs, hopefully it will return to the active fleet by the end of the month.

Thanks FF, was under the impression the fleet reduced to 2 with only 101/103 remaining in the recent defence shake up as 106 hasn't flown since August last year, so that's good news.

Cheers

Mike, it is a fleet of 3 in total, 2 with 8 Sqn, 1 on servicing, they rotate round. Unsure if any of them will go into servicing after 106 returns to the Sqn given that they will all be withdrawn by the end of the year as per the Integrated Review.
