Serial request for the 4x E-3 parked on northernmost apron

Post by nitro999 » Sat Jul 11, 2020 7:47 pm

Hi all

Hoping someone may be able to assist. I was driving on the A15 today (Sat 11 July) south from Lincoln and could see 4x E-3s parked on the northernmost apron. Wasn't able to stop as family were all asleep in the car and I feared waking anyone up!! If anyone could confirm serials for these 4 I would be very grateful.

Many thanks

Should be:
Zh101
Zh106
Zh107 54sqd special marks (withdrawn from use)
Zh102 (withdrawn from use)

The only other one is Zh103 which hasn't been active since 21/12/19 and is in Alpha hangar as far as I know.

In theory!!

107 has not flown in years but was only withdrawn within the last 12 months so who knows!

103s last flight was on the last Saturday before Christmas last year which was bizzare in its self, but was fairly active in the weeks before hand.

Be interesting to see what state it's in when the hangar doors are open.

Just drove past, 5 E3s out on Alpha, meaning 103 is out of the Hangar.

Rather than starting a new thread, thought would add this on here.

Drove past last night, 2x E3 have been moved from Alpha. One of which is definitely 107, so presuming the other is 102. Guess they just want them out of the way after withdrawing them last year, or potentially just need the space for Rj/Sentinel as some of the hard standings have been closed off near the tower due to heat degradation.
Hard to tell exactly where they were parked, but they were near the air ambulance area.

1 appeared to be parked on the old 'bomber' area, where the M2000 used to park for ACMI visits pointing towards the runway, and the 2nd looked to be parked on the long disused pointing in the direction of Lincoln (where the fast jets used to park for the airshow).

Forgot to mention at the time but all 5 were outside the hangar on 25/7 too, only counted the tails on a drive past but with only 5 having tails...
