Won't have much affect but the A15 is closed at weekends from 6pm Friday to 7am Monday starting mid September for anyone planning a weekend trip.

Also worth noting the road to the east of the A15 is closed at the northern end for anyone wanting longer approach shots. (Bloxholme Lane).
Access is from the south via the B1178.

Mike
Actually that is important. I planned on arriving Monday morning rather early and this way I at least know I apparently won't be able to even use the A15 before 7 am. Good advice, thanks!
You can take the 607 in bracebridge, head to west of the base to Harmston, and cut across to the A15 from there, its only closed north of the wave to bracebridge.

Aaaah, just checked. Good advice! But didn't it say a few posts before that B1178 from Harmston would be blocked as well? ... or was that just the parking space?

Just the parking on the base side, there are two laybys, one either side of the kink just after the 02 approach.

I've been down to Waddington a few times in years past for the Show, ACMI and Ex NOMAD's, but I never knew that road existed until now.

Hi all, I was just wondering the same thing as Alex concerning where all info is, looks like I need to work on my posts then... Haha...

Cheers, Richard.
Same here, arriving from the Netherlands, i was wondering if there is still a possibility to take pictures at Waddington or will it be nearly impossible with the imposed restrictions?

You should be fine, I'll pop up end of this week and take a look around and post a few shots to help those travelling far.

Thread going to be locked and sorted, had messages saying the whole thread is too confusing because people are posting movements, rumours etc in one thread.

There is a dedicated section, where every topic can have it's own thread.

I'll try and reopen the thread ASAP but heading off to work shortly. Once its open can it be kept on the subject of parking only

I'm at Waddington now, I don't think it's as bad as we thought. Will post the shots later.

That letter seems to suggest that people will be allowed up to the perimeter fence.

They are allowed at the fence, just not with ladders.

The grass closest to the fence is flat, presumably by the tractor that cut the hedge, there is quite a space before the road, I'd hope that people will be able stand that side with ladders as long as not up to the fence, kind of like a riat style exclusion zone. If not, there's ample room wave side for ladders, well just get stuck behind any lorrys caught at the lights.

Think it was stated that no ladders would be allowed on the base side of the A15 period.

For those travelling from Norfolk and area, the first two dates for the reduction of the swing bridge at Sutton Bridge on the A17 to single lane traffic light controlled crossing are 4/5 September. Suggest alternative route is plotted as delays expected to be substantial.

Further clarifying, after crossing the River Ouse via the Kings Lynn bypass you will immediately be at the Pullover Roundabout.
Turn left toward Wisbech on the A47. At Wisbech, turn right at the first roundabout and continue to the town centre.
At town centre roundabout turn right, and across river, onto the A1101 which will take you back to the A17 at Long Sutton.

I shall be monitoring the chaos that may occur, grandchildren live Lincolnshire school Norfolk, and will advise further.

Personally, I reckon most heavy traffic will have already decided their alternative route and this 50% closure might not be as bad as we expect. When bridge closes fully for boat traffic it is only a minor aggravation.

This has recently been posted by the owners of the WAVE.

Seeing as there's been no updates and the exercise is upon us, there will be no charge to park at The WAVE, However, if people still want to donate, all monies will be going to charity.
Extra toilets are sorted.

If the car park gets full, you will be allowed to park further up the road on the old dispersals, but please do not walk over the fields. Come out the entrance on the A15, that you drove In to.
Also do not park on the road into the fire rescue training centre as they still need full access in case of emergencies.

Litter!!!!
Please either use the small bins provided, or preferably bring your own bags and dispose of sensibly. Do not litter the car park.

Gates open 7am for the duration of the exercise.

Most of all, enjoy the food and drink on offer, respect the staff and enjoy your time watching some great aircraft.
