Used to be loads of movements posted on here for Wadd but seems quieter now, either no-one visits anymore or it is quieter, but shop and food is good and you never know.

John
For every sarcastic comment about your logs there were far more people who appreciated them! I for one miss them as they were invaluable for me to come over when something I needed was in!

I understand what your saying John if you are getting sarcastic comments, but surely its cutting off your nose to spite your face a bit, I have not been visiting presuming the place has died because nothing seems to be visiting. It would seem I am not on my own assuming this, surely for the good of your business posting as many movements as possible would show people how busy it is instead of people saying how busy it is when people say its quiet. If your getting grief on this site why not start a WAVE website it may be a pain to set up but once running you could have a daily log and people cannot have a go back like they can here, it could also answer questions about what WAVE is and where it is. Not having a go we have spoken before and you seem a nice guy and no-one seems to have a bad word about you (in fact its usually the opposite) and looking through posts on here there is a lot more positive comments about you, your posts and the WAVE than negative or sarcastic stuff.

I dont think any one is offend John, its only a hobby at the end of the day and you sound like you know, first hand, that some things are more important. Hope you are well soon and know that everyone on here wants you well (firstly and most importantly) and secondly that the WAVE is successful it is a unique facility for spotters and very important, if you want proof of support, just look at the support during the thread "that shall remain nameless", over the top, but supportive. We all like to visit but knowing whats happening is a incentive especially if coming from futher afield, all the best and will visit soon.

I total agree with the comments that Jakdaw has said above. This is a hobby for most people on here, but one thing that is becoming clear on the forum is that there are certain individuals who have issues with RAF Waddington, with posting comments like wasting your time or don’t bother better at Coningsby I feel these comments are not constructive and have other motives behind posting them.

I’ve been spotting for the last 30 years and part of the hobby for me is the not knowing if anything will fly or turn up that day. Yes I agree Coningsby can have more flying in a day than Waddington, but what do you want, the same 4 typhoons flying morning, evening and night or like what happens at Waddington a variety of different aircraft through the day.

As for Waddington being busy the answer has to be yes, It’s the only RAF base in the area which you can see Nato 707, E3A, C130, F15 and all the rest previously mentioned in this and other threads on the forum.

As for John keep up the good work.
Cheers Rob

Im glad that some people agree with me (if only mrs jakdaw did!!), I agree turtle about some comments but there does seem some lively banter between Wadd guys and Coningsby guys but most people know what you get at what base (Wadd sounds busier than I thought thanks to messages posted today). My usual day spotting is a leisurely drive round the Coningsby, Cranwell, Barkston and Waddington loop either way round as John posted ideal to fill up at WAVE for a ride out or after a busy days spotting. Just for balance Coningsby isnt just Typhoons either. I know we moan that the bases arent what they used to be and yes Cranwell isnt full of Tucanos, Swinderby doesnt have the puther of Chippies, Waddington doesnt rattle with F16,F-18,F-5 and Mirages, Scampton doesnt have Bulldogs and Tucanos flying round the Reds and Coningsby doesnt have so many Tornado F3s they have to use numbers in the letter tail codes, but Lincolnshire still has done better than many areas and a forum like this could only have been dreamt of back then. The ability for enthusiasts to communicate what is happening instantly is pretty awesome and I have never met a spotter at a fence who isnt willing to chat aircraft and while away those quiet minutes.

Other motives??I was simply saying that for a 2 hour drive i would rather go to coningsby, that is my personal opinion.I've got no issues at all with RAF Waddington or John.

He was still doing them at 3:45pm aswell as i drove in to Lincoln. As i approached the turning for Branston, the King Air was starting to bank on its base leg, a way back behind me was an Ambulance flashing its blues. I instinctively knew he would meet the lights at the same time as the King Air would overshoot the A15 and so i said to the wife this is going to be interesting. I wondered if the lights would come on to stop the traffic or not and if the King air would see the ambulance and break off from finals. The ambulance only had me left to overtake and so i pulled over early just outside the WAVE and by this time the lights should have been on. I looked at the King Air who was about 700 hundred yards from crossing the A15 but he had turned towards the taxiway effectively head on with the WAVE and myself. As he came to around 400 yards away the ambulance passed me at the WAVE and as it reached the lights the King Air turned back on the runway heading.

It was fascinating and showed great quick thinking by whom i presume was a trainee pilot from cranwell? No idea if any comms occurred for it.
