Cobra Warrior 23-2

Post by Petepilot » Wed Jun 28, 2023 9:09 am

I have searched in vain for any information about Cobra Warrior 23-2. Any fellow-FCers throw any light?

I'll understand if this gets moved to the Cobra Warrior thread

Thanks in advance!

Quite a bit in the Wadington section. But mostly speculation at the moment.

Many thanks Alf - I hadn't seen the thread under Waddington, but that does, as you say, look like mostly speculation. Scramble has nothing for CW2, and I did read about a declined FoI request for information on CW2. I guess it'll happen when (if) it happens! Thanks again. :thumb:

Dates mentioned in Exercise thread plus other Web searches mention September 4th to 22nd
Others suggest a week later
The Exercise thread under Waddingtion section should see more discussion as other loose threads have already been moved into there

The item below was taken from CAA CAP 2362 and states as follows -

53. The period of activation for August 2023 (Ex COBRA WARRIOR 23-2) will
be between:
• 4 September 2023 and 22 September 2023 nominally consisting of
eight activations of four hours. Exact dates and times to be agreed
closer to the exercise dates.
54. Exact timings for each activation will be specified by NOTAM and by the
Airspace Use Plan (AUP).

Many thanks Dave, much appreciated! At least that seems to confirm that the Ex. is on, perhaps? Just had a look at CAP 2362 and there does seem to be an element of long-term planning portrayed. Let's hope those long-term plans come to fruition!

Well considering that the 'period of activation for August' is September 4th - 22nd, they do seem to be working to a very odd calendar...

Waddington, Mildenhall and Lakenheath all having participants this time round.

Should include some AEW assets based here as well again.

I believe these times are for the upcoming Storm Warrior, not CW.

Interesting range of dates - cannot all be for CW 23-2 though? Source?

The July/August dates are for Storm warrior - not Cobra Warrior.
