I'm not sure if this is the right thread or if it would be better to post in the Waddington thread.
Please excuse me if I'm wrong...
I have a question regarding the previous Indian visits to the UK for the INDRADHANUSH (and GARUDA in France) exercises:
Did the Il-78 stay and fly missions for the duration of the exercises or did they return to India after the fighters were delivered, like this year?
Thank you and best greetings
Marcus

Question about Il-78
Re: Question about Il-78
I didn't live here back then, I visited on the Tuesday after the airshow.
The IL-78MKI flew that day and returned to Waddo.
An IL-76 was on static show for the airshow weekend and I think an IL76/78 flew on the airshow weekend.
Hopefully one of the old guard has a log somewhere!

Re: Question about Il-78
IL-78MKI RK3452 stayed for the duration of the exercise in 2007 and flew almost daily missions, the others (IL-78MKI RK3451 & IL-76MD K2663) returned to India after the Waddington air show that was held on 30/06/07. IL-78MKI RK3452 also appeared in the static display at RIAT two weeks later, it was also in the static display at the Waddington air show.
Re: Question about Il-78
Thank you both very much

Re: Question about Il-78
For the 2015 exercise RK3454 was based at Brize Norton for the duration.
