Not really, they are behind a couple of fences.

Went to Waddington today for the first time this exercise. On entering The Wave in my Evoque, the smallest Range Rover, just after the gates were opened at 7:30 I was told that "Range Rovers and Freelanders are not allowed"(no mention of Discoveries or Defenders)although I noticed there were similar sized eg Ford Kuga, and even bigger SUVs eg VW Tiguan,Tuareg, than mine parked up.Anybody have any idea what is going on and who sets the somewhat random criteria for entry?

Close as I can tell it's a local diktat decreeing that any psuedo-offroader that's had a Grand Piano dropped on it is NOT permitted in the WAVE.DC7C59 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:09 pmWent to Waddington today for the first time this exercise. On entering The Wave in my Evoque, the smallest Range Rover, just after the gates were opened at 8:30 I was told that "Range Rovers and Freelanders are not allowed"(no mention of Discoveries or Defenders)although I noticed there were similar sized eg Ford Kuga, and even bigger SUVs eg VW Tiguan,Tuareg, than mine parked up.Anybody have any idea what is going on and who sets the somewhat random criteria for entry?
Clearly the vomit inducing appearance could adversely affect burger sales.

Re: Car parking and viewing at Waddington.
i got the impression when i visited, the car park was only available for "the chosen". gates were closed but allowing some in and not others.
i would hate to think this is the case given we all have a passion for the same interest, but if it is it needs addressing.

Re: Car parking and viewing at Waddington.
parking wasn't like that at all daz, they were basically doing one out one in when it was full...they tried their best to get as many in as possible safely

Re: Car parking and viewing at Waddington.
Correct, they have doing that since it opened.
Re: Car parking and viewing at Waddington.
If they are full, and you are one of the locals/friends they let you in and make a space for you, normally on the gravel. They sometimes save a space or two next to the burger van as well.
As for the range rover rule - that's a new one probably made up by the volunteers on the door that morning.

Re: Car parking and viewing at Waddington.
I went straight to the overflow yesterday as i thought i wouldn't be allowed in, in my nissan nv200 7 seater (even though its not much bigger than a normal car) as i feared they wouldn't let me. Once i parked up in the overflow i realised there were a few vans in the car park anyway with one being a rather large van parked towards the front, which i was surprised at as this was something they said they didn't want due to vans blocking the view, why was it allowed near the front? Im pretty sure they do have a favour towards the locals which i do get, because they need the locals to keep the burger van running but it makes people not want to support the van to help keep it open in my opinion.
Also find it funny they have a car going around the car park with orange flashing lights on the dashboard, im guessing this was people who run the wave trying to make theirselves feel important?

You've got it in one with your last comment.
The issue with the WAVE is they make rules up as and when they like, and then the main rules that they plaster everywhere at the start slowly get relaxed...
It's annoying, but at least the car park is open.

Hi guys, im coming down on Monday, is the overspill car park open at all times? I’m hoping to be there for around 7am. I’m not bothered about parking at the wave! Thanks
Re: Car parking and viewing at Waddington.
Hi, the overflow car park is open all the time (as there's no gate's or barriers...at the moment). Just make sure you're on the hard standing/ concrete and not in the fields/ crops and you should be fine.
Re: Car parking and viewing at Waddington.
Thanks paul
Tbh i dont care where i was parked as im not above anyone else . But the locals should share the same opinion as far as im concearned. Just because they are local doesnt make them any more important than anyone else, imo

Thanks yunglee appreciated!
Re: Car parking and viewing at Waddington.
Totally agree with your comments. Rules or Guidance?..It was great that the "Management Ron" previously felt sufficiently impervious to speeding HGV's to stand in the middle of the road, wearing an ordinary looking dayglo jacket....but obviously radiating a personal force-field, merely to direct traffic/people on the last occasion I visited. Their Life Insurance premium for a multiple suicide attempts like that must be eye-watering!

It's good to see the Car-park, comfort option & sustenance available again & I wish them well in the future. I would however be a tad bummed if I drove 3.5 hours to be there at 07:32 to be denied access to the WAVE in my 'approved car', just so some favoured 'Local' scrote can roll outta bed @ 09:00 & pootle 6 miles to a reserved parking place ready for the flying? Not that such a thing would ever happen!

Short of a meteorological miracle for Waddington in the next 8 days, I'm gonna sack-off CW.23 & wait for actual Spring / BST to kick-in before I bother with the melee!

'I used to be undecided before, but now I'm not so sure?'
