Given the layby closure and number of "no parking" cones down the A15 anybody would think POTUS or G7 was happening ?
There are a dozen fast jets on base, and I doubt all of them will fly on the same day.
Clearly someone who does not believe in safety. The A15 alongside the base is a very dangerous stretch of road; you only have to watch how many vehicles ignore the red flashing lights at the runway end. Thankfully there has yet to be a collision between a vehicle and an aircraft at those points but if an articulated lorry had ignored the lights when the Belgian F-16 managed to clip the boundary fence the end product is unthinkable.

I thought the previous restrictions were due to Israeli participation?

Seems excessive if they do it again for 12 jets. How would they have gone on in ACMI days? :D
I used to visit Waddington regularly in the ACMI days, can’t recall any real traffic / parking problems. Admittedly the local & MOD police used to drive passed fairly regularly to ensure everyone stayed sensible, but there always seemed space in the Wave car park

There is nothing wrong with the A15.

No parking signs are now the length of Tower lane (02 end).
The layby now has bollards and is taped off to try to deter you from walking on to it.
All the field access is taped off.
The crash gate is taped off at the end.

Mad.

other than a number of 'morons' that drive along it oblivious to anything around them (like pedestrians, other vehicles and the odd aircraft or two)

Well said. Some are clearly out of touch with reality.

Those were the days, pre-WAVE we all managed to squeeze into the field entrance before the lights. Low fence too. :thumb:
Don't know if I'm just getting older (not 40 yet lol) but the hobby seems more popular these days with bigger crowds.

Are there set flying or non-flying days for this exercise please? I seem to remember in the past there was.

Thanks
Andy

Week 1 and 3 should be M/W/F, week 2 should be Tu/Thurs but not seen any NOTAMs to confirm that.

There should be flying on other days and maybe in the afternoon on Ex days. I did hear a rumour that the Italians wanted to go up today....

It would seem the Italian G550AEW MAY return home during some downtimes ,which may also see both visiting during CW22
MM62303 filed out at 0700 …not being expected to have mission till 5/9

The weather was perfect for the arrival of the six luftwaffe tornado's. The german crew were in the wave selling patches, the cw2022 coin is fantastic. £10 a patch the coin was £15. No idea if they will be out again but if i was a betting man i would say yes.

The Germans plan to be back tomorrow morning I'm told.

Also, Bloxholme lane (the lane that runs behind the wave parallel to the A15) has been blocked off. I find that one more odd than the layby down the far side!

I find all these road closures ridiculous. If anything they will end up causing more problems for the WAVE as everyone ends up having to try and get in there instead of heading to various locations that they would have gone to. Not only that, its not like its an airshow, its just over a dozen aircraft that will be taking off and landing (maybe run and breaks or overshoots?). Not like they are going to be performing for the people gathered outside the base. Its almost like we are not allowed to go spotting anymore when something good is happening. There never used to be so many people going to watch either which will also be the reason for all this craziness. I think the big reason for the amount of people around the bases for exercises is down to social media. There seems to be alot of people with little or no knowledge or interest in aircraft that just end up going along because they have seen it on facebook etc. I realise we all started somewhere with little or no knowledge (i will also say that im nowhere near as knowledgeable as some of you on here) so not knocking these people but just in my opinion it has had a negative effect on the enjoyment of the hobby.
