Lancaster to RIAT?

Post by pb643 » Wed Jul 17, 2024 6:31 pm

The Lancaster is listed to attend RIAT this weekend, with a display slot allocated, so I understand. The fighters were cancelled several weeks ago.

I am curious to know if there is any indication to say this is likely to happen? As far as I am aware there has been no aircraft movements since the accident, except the Chipmunk.

Grounded as it is also Merlin-powered.

Thank you both.

That's been my understanding, hence my surprise at it remaining on the list. I would have assumed the RIAT organisers are better informed than the rest of us

The last I read the winter maintenance was running behind, with a number of systems still requiring work, hence missing the usual Dutch trip in May.
I have no idea if that work has been completed in recent weeks. Or if any engine runs have been carried out.

Engine runs have been carried out in the last couple of weeks but whether they have done enough to enable flight remains to be seen
Cheers
