Worth pointing out the road closures I popped in the Coningsby section.

Families day road closures -

Dear Resident,

As neighbours of RAF Coningsby, I am writing to you regarding our bi-annual Families Day that is taking place on Friday 28 July.
As we have done in previous years, we have engaged the services of a professional Road Traffic
Management company to limit disruption as much as possible. The following roads will be closed from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM with access maintained for residents and car parks.

Park Lane
Castle Lane
Old Boston Road Hurnbridge Road
Reedham Lane
Dogdyke Road/Coningsby Road
Dogdyke Road will also be closed with no access between the Aircraft Enthusiast Car Park and the junction with New York Road, between 12:30 PM and 4:30 PM on 28 July. After 4:30 the road will opened south bound only.

Several other roads will have no waiting/loading restrictions on them during 28 July, again, access to residents will be maintained:
New York Road
Old Fen Lane B1192 Langrick Road (Between Dogdyke Road & A153)

Ok thanks. Does that mean if we can get to the carpark before 12.30 we'll be able to stay there until 4.30?

Given the above restrictions, where is best to view the action?

Such a pity that the forum doesn't have a Coningsby section where news regarding events at Coningsby could be posted.

Please can one of the moderators move this to the Coningsby section where it belongs? Thanks.

Sorry to cause consternation by starting this in the wrong place.

If anyone has any ideas where will be available to view on Friday I'll be very grateful.

There is normally a map published that shows where is closed/no waiting but it's not out yet - can't find it from 2yrs ago either.

Mad that the RAF families days have better flying participation than most public airshows! Unfortunately I can't make this one, but thanks for the info all the same.

Photos on social media show the spotters car park overflowing. With the last cars near enough on the road. The plea by the base and police worked well

People will always turn up, but a families day that runs into a Saturday like an airshow, photocall or spotters day, MAY alleviate some of the issues with people parking. I know, before anyone goes on, that the RAF aren't there for our entertainment, but the taxpayer (everyone here  ) does fund them. It will also get some good publicity & raise some money for local charities  . Just a suggestion for the base?!

Coningsby used to have a spotters day the day before families day. I can remember going several times. Quite a good day too. Linked to the old
Spotters watch from memory
