Log Coningsby 07/09/21

Post by Doughnut » Wed Sep 08, 2021 10:45 am

Sunny day at Fighter Town, good to see a few old faces.
Old fashioned log of aircraft that few today.

am
G-COBS DA-42 Flight Checker, departed
Typhoon's unmarked unless noted
318, 946, 363 12sqn, 383 12sqn, 348, 329, 937 29sqn, 437, 300, 439, 429, 343 1sqn, 302, 342

pm
375 41sqn, 433, 372 12sqn, 366 12sqn, 300, 937, 437, 383 12sqn, 329, 946, 363 12sqn, 348, 341
B-536 Danish C-130J arrived / departed

12 Sqn Typhoons departed the shelter area with 372 carrying a live LGB on starboard inner pylon. Both 372 and 366 headed north and return without the LGB.
As there has been no news to say RAF bombed Holyrood assume they left their mark on the Tain range.

Photos to follow.

Nice log Paul.

According to ADS, 372 went much further North than Tain - Don't think they can drop fully live munitions on Tain range, too close to the local village.

Mike and Reaper, Tain doesn't do live bombing, only pratice bombs. But did notice a 12 sqn jet was playing around Garvie Island yesterday...

Blimey, I'm surprised there's much of Garvie left, - we were doing HLH and return from/back to RAFG in 90 and knocking chunks out of it then. A good old granite plug.

To add to Paul's original report of activities, the following Typhoons were also noted but did not fly:-

ZK345 no unit marks - on tow Northside
ZK347 no unit marks- 29sqn ramp
ZK359 12sqn marks - outside 3sqn shelters
ZK379 no unit marks - 11sqn ramp
ZK382 12sqn marks - 12sqn shelters

plus one more on the 3sqn ramp which had no unit marks and was unidentified due to heathaze (possibly 31something)

Cheers
Alan
