Safety at Coningsby

Post by reaper493 » Fri Jul 16, 2021 12:50 pm

Just seen this posted on the CBY Facebook page, worth remembering now the summer holidays are almost here....

I'm sure we've all seen a near miss or two on here.
At RAF Coningsby we are very grateful for the interest and support we receive from the public.
We are concerned though… Next to the airfield, between the Enthusiasts Car Park and our wire is a public road.
This road has a national speed limit of 60 MPH, we have had several comments from local residents about people being so interested in our aircraft that they forget the essentials of road safety.
Please do take care, we know that our aircraft are great, but your safety comes first…
Thank you,

It’s a good warning, I drive past the spotters car park most days after work, I go past it at 20-30mph max (much to the annoyance sometimes of cars following it has to be said), as I’ve had both adults and children wandering across the road as their attention is fixated on what’s the other side of the fence.

As well as reminding pedestrians to take care, drivers should as well.

Drivers need reminding that when the red lights flash they are supposed to stop and not carry on regardless. (Same at Waddington).

Two weeks ago when I was there a van overtook the long queue of waiting traffic (at the red flashing lights) - at speed .... I noted it was white in colour ....
