Indeed it is, it was supposed to be Scamptons on the 6th but that went very quiet.

I expect it to be absolutely rammed, one of the few occasions this year to see BBMF, Reds, Typhoon and the Falcons all in one place.
I'm sure there will be some parking restrictions to the south in the near future!

Parking restriction signs are in place on Old Fen Lane, Hurnbridge Road and Reedham Lane- all closed 0900 - 2000 as far as I recall, whether that means they will clear out vehicles and people who are already there is another question.

O/T for this section also I know but not sure where the idea that Scampton had a families day planned for 6/7 came from - that’s not the case.

You are correct on the Scampton, I've got my July's and August's confused....

Our Station Families Day takes place this Friday 23 July.

The purpose of Families Day is to recognise the impact service life has on the families of military personnel, and to thank those families for their support.

The day is not a public event.

Whilst our Enthusiasts Car Park will be open as usual, this will be the only parking available. Access to the car park will only be from the South via the B1192 and the New York/ Dogdyke Rd.

To ease traffic flow and to lessen the impact of the event on our neighbours, there will be other road closures and ‘no parking’ restrictions in place around the airfield, both to the South and North.

During the flying display, to maintain its safety, we will ask civilian Police colleagues to move people on who congregate under the display area, and we will, with regret, cancel the display if necessary.

Whilst we are sincerely grateful for the year-round support we receive from members of the public, our request for this day is that unless you are actually attending the event you refrain from coming to Coningsby, and thus enable personnel and their families to enjoy the day.

It's a fair request,one I think we should all adhere to. The day is for the station personnel and family. I would hate to see it spoiled.

I'm sure the spotters carpark will be full, sadly. Many will ignore the request to stay away. A bit inconsiderate in my opinion but that how it is nowadays

Not sure it's inconsiderate parking in the viewing area where you are allowed to be. The viewing area is fairly busy this morning but not full yet and the overflow is open which can accommodate a fair amount of vehicles. As long as people stick to the bit we are allowed to park I don't see the problem with it. I don't get peoples problem with people turning up to watch a families day from the outside, this never used to cause any issue. It's just health and safety gone mad, just enjoy what you can while you can as the aircraft numbers we have are dwindling pretty quick so there's not going to be displays to watch in the not too distant future the way things are going.
