Coningsby quiet today? 14/9
Coningsby quiet today? 14/9
Anyone been to Coningsby today and logged activities? Just seems very quiet.
I have only heard/seen tracking Warlord [29sqd] and Vermin [12sqd] this morning and Triplex [29sqd] flight this afternoon, with Triplex 33 landing at Waddington.
Anyone spotted any more, or know of any reason for the apparent lack of movements?
Cheers
Mike
EDIT: just noticed Calibrator is about, possibly something to do with that.

What is Calibrator?
Re: Coningsby quiet today? 14/9
Surprised that none of the Coningsby posse caught the 'first' from 12Sqn today, or did they?
Re: Coningsby quiet today? 14/9
I've seen a photo of it of Facebook via someone else.
I thought it was for 9 sqd with them being the aggressor unit?
Im sure someone will have caught it.
The calibrator is a civi aircraft that flies certain patterns near bases to check their radar and 'calibrate' them Waddington was done last week. The calibrator aircraft will fly up and down the approaches as well as performing a wide orbit on the limits of the radar. Today's was a DA-42 but king air types are also used.

Thinking of heading up Friday... wish me luck!
Re: Coningsby quiet today? 14/9
Good luck!
NOTAM'd open 10 - 2 on Friday. Might get some BBMF up before and/or after these times as well.

'Surprised that none of the Coningsby posse caught the 'first' from 12Sqn today, or did they?'
If you are talking about ZK361 wearing 12 Sqn marks that left Coningsby with a Paveway IV? and did not bring it back. Then yes one did - Me!
