Gun fire and any weapons attacks are usually simulated. And they are most likely Apaches from Wattisham or possibly Middle Wallop?

I don't think I've heard of Apaches using the East Coast ranges for anything other than flares trials recently.

Could be on STANTA or Sculthorpe.

You'll get similar type of target chatter when Coningsby/Marham based aircraft are working with MAGIC along the North Norfolk coast - sometimes you'll get a latitude/longitude and can work out where the target is, sometimes it's obvious from the voice descriptions alone, other times you can't tell. Scenarios I've heard include:
- Senior terrorist leaders meeting in a building, the description and lat/long of which matched a large summerhouse next to swimming pool in someone's garden.
- Target/POI boarding an aircraft on the apron at Norwich Airport.

If you want to hear these you'll need the AWACS and Coningsby/Marham Ops and air-to-air frequencies loaded into your scanner.

They were from Wattisham. Fairly routine training. They sometimes will just pick a random car going along the A140/A47/A12 or suchlike, and observe its movements as if it were a suspect vehicle, communicating between the cabs about getting into shooting position etc. and relaying the vehicle movements to each other. Routine training.
