French Air Force memorial at York Minster. :)
At 10:30am on 20th October this year, the inauguration of the French Air Force Memorial will take place in York Minster – the 66th anniversary of the French heavy bomber squadrons leaving Elvington to return to liberated France.

Over 1500 visitors of all nationalities will attend the Minster from Britain, France and other nations including veterans, servicemen and women and the families and friends of those who fought from Elvington and other RAF bases across Britain during World War Two. A March-Past and flypast by the BBMF Lancaster Bomber plus a “9 ship” Tucano flypast will follow, including the possibility of French Air Force Rafales and other aircraft.

Hi Stephen.

The Rafale did not come to Coningsby it did a round robin flight from St Dizier hope that helps.

Regards.

Mark.

For anyone with an interest in serials the first of the F-15E's of Stud 21 Flight was 92-0364. The four Xingu's that participated in the flypast at York Minister flew, still in formation, overhead Coningsby on their way into Cranwell and as already mentioned the Rafale also overflew Coningsby at height and could be seen disappearing into the distance trailing for quite some time.

Another movement today I believe is associated with the rafale flypast was a formation of 4 Xingu’s coming over Scunthorpe heading north mid morning and was also seen returning from the north still in formation about 1 -2 hours later.
Cheers Rob
