USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
As HMS Queen Elizabeth is due to leave on CSG21 ‘in the Spring’, I assume that the USMC will arrive a week or two prior to the ship’s departure.
Is anyone aware of when the USMC are due to arrive back?
Many thanks in advance.

Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
No news on it yet.
Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
I read somewhere QE is due to sail on 10th may, so they must be due in mid Apr.
Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
QE is taking part in JW commencing on 2nd May so I should think it will sail before 10th May. Time will tell!!
Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
That would certainly make sense to me, as I had heard that HMS QE was due to depart on CSG21 around June, so participation in the previous weeks for Joint Warrior ties in nicely. Whether the USMC will be part of JW, I'm unsure.
Thanks for your answers all.

Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
With the USS Iwo Jima currently in UK waters, what are the chances that the F-35’s that are due to deploy with the QECG are onboard after hitching a ride across the Atlantic?

Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
With the various rumours of other bases being used for the USMC I thought I would do some truck spotting at Marham to see if any logistics turn up - not seen anything yet
Although the station is notamed closed , two F-35B have been towed to the 207 sun shelters

Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
Just rumours - I have no clue myself but Lakenheath has been mentioned at various fence locations but it could be Chinese whispers.
Marham makes sense in one respect in that it is of course an F-35B base. But if they are going straight on to the carrier within a few days why lug all the equipment from Mildenhall to Marham? You could argue why bother taking the support from Mildenhall to Lakenheath? Pure speculation but you did ask
I am personally more interested in the Iwo Jima LHD-7 , I would love to see some of the MV-22B / CH-53E

Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
Gone off topic a bit but read on the www the LHD-7 is not part of the HMS QNLZ CSG-21 task force so I wondered if the Iwo Jima might visit the Solent at some point? Although the pandemic will prevent any shore visiting I guess.

Decent photos
VMM-162 (Reinforced) YS coded
( The Marines need land to practice on - I could tolerate some YS coded MV-22B over STANTA!)

Re: USMC F-35B Deployment - Round 2
Thanks for that
( I didn't need either of the two reported CH-53E that visited Devon! I am super slack on New River MV-22B but I am not holding my breath)
