Re: F35 day to day Flying
The lowest is zero , the highest number of departures in recent weeks I reckon is 6 flights ( 4 different aircraft) but I guess the mean value is 3.5 flights per day for Monday to Thursday inclusive ( 3 per day if you include Fridays)
Not a lot compared to Coningsby for example.

Slogen51,
In a given week how many days on average would you say one or more fly?
i.e. any guesses about the likelihood of a total bust!
Thanks in advance!

Re: F35 day to day Flying
In my experience they operate several ( 2 - 4 ) flights every day from Monday to Thursday afternoon.
There are now a whole 15 F-35B at Marham and it would appear that 207 Sqn are now flying familiarization flights plus also new callsigns have been heard in the last week.
It's hard to imagine this frequency decreasing and I would guess the movements might even ramp up. Yippee!

Re: F35 day to day Flying
Is it me or are most of the Sorties flown just Currency flights,?
Guessing that to get the most out of the Aircraft systems its the Simulators that achieve this,
Mark.

Re: F35 day to day Flying
It's easy to become blase and I do understand why people are unimpressed with the F-35B but I think that Marham is well worth a visit. For me, in the hands of a RAF pilot ( and now Navy pilot) , F-35B in the circuit are quite impressive with several different types of approach profiles and high speed passes and these days it is quite novel? to see a fast jet come to a hover in front of you.

Re: F35 day to day Flying
Yesterday ( Monday 5/8) I don't think there were any military flights at Marham - the ATIS was on in the morning however, the runway lights were off.
This morning 6/8, the ATIS is on and saying 24 but the runway lights are off and although a caravan is out I suspect it is empty of human life.
Showing that really spotting has some similarities to fishing.
Time for a swim at Pentney

Waited for Doom 12 to return - ZM139
Not sure if any more went up - so one movement in two days ( I assume Doom 11 didn't taxi)

Re: F35 day to day Flying
The thing with the F35 and training now is the ratio between sim training and actual flying is starting to swing more towards sim now days soo the base will be quieter compared to say the last few years with the Tornados

Re: F35 day to day Flying
I usually pop in lunchtime once or twice a week - the beer garden is very pleasant on a nice day
I can recommend the Kings Arms at Shouldham and not far from Marham
