Marham rwy 01 fields
Yesterday the farmer came out and asked everyone to leave the fields and hard-standing at the 01 end.
He said that he'd been quite happy with people using his land but he now needed to start work. Somebody asked it if was okay to park away from the hard-standing and walk to the fields and he said not.
Perhaps somebody who knows him (I think his name was Chris?) can clarify if this meant just yesterday or, as I thought, ongoing?
I am asking so that everyone knows the score and DOES NOT upset someone who has been very accommodating; as he put it yesterday "you've had a good winter of it (access), but it is time to start farming the land again".
Regards,
Paul

Going by the last statement, and also several Facebook posts, that field is now inaccessible indefinitely. It is a shame, however, the farmer has given us all plenty of good access, so it is only fair we all pay him back by leaving him the space.
Also, Marham 'should' be back onto 06/24 soon, so back to the old hunting grounds.

Thank you, James and I agree that he has been very good about it, with a dozen or more togs in the fields on a regular basis but no problems.
Let's hope that good relationship isn't spoiled as, even with of 06/24 coming back into use soon, it might be useful again, in the future.

Yeah exactly, got some lovely shots. I think the relationship with him/Marham is good, we just need to keep that up by not going into the field whilst closed.

It is a pity that nobody knows what is happening with the 'retro schemed' ZG752, as that is going to be a major temptation ;-)
If it doesn't fly before 06/24 is back in use, there won't be such temptation :-)

Sadly I doubt the appropriate amount of respect will be shown.
Will probably be the occasional enthusiast who distribute litter at Lakenheath who will upset the apple cart at Marham of course

This is unfortunate as I was hoping to return for another visit or two before they're gone, especially to see the camo jet. Grateful to the farmer for his co-operation though - at least I got some photos in the bag.
Any idea when 06/24 is likely to re-open, and is there anywhere for that runway to get such good ground shots?

I don't think you'll see the main open before the end of Tornado ops.

From what iv been told the tornado will never fly from 06/24 again i hope to be corrected but i have had it confirmed that once 06/24 is back open 01/19 will definately remain operational aswell

Re: Marham rwy.01 fields
I was at Marham on Thursday and observed people all along the fence line at the 01 end. Loads of cars parked along White Road and three on the opposite side of the road to the hard standing at the field entrance. Nobody reported a visit from the farmer and I'd have expected a mass exodus if he had turned up. He's got more than one field to farm and obviously can't be everywhere.

Re: Marham rwy 01 fields
Can anybody give me a idea as to access currently? Judging from the photos doing the rounds they are all taken from the 01 end so access is still available? That said I don't want to pee the landowner off when I visit soon.

Re: Marham rwy 01 fields
Sensible parking in White Road, those who had parked on the main Swaffham Road were being spoken to by Norfolks finest today. Farmer was being very tolerant and allowing access to the fence but only to the left of the landing lights. Those that tried to go to the right were spoken with and sent to the left side. This due to farmer working the field that side, he explained that due to safety concerns people could not be adjacent to where he was working. I would go to the fence via field edge and if farmer advises me that the area is out of bounds heed his advice and go where he directs. If you see work being done in the field assume the adjacent fence line will be out of bounds. Hope this helps, today seemed to go quiet well farmer and enthusiasts co existing well, hopefully this state of affairs will continue.
